Anyone ever put 3x18650 in a 4C Mag with a 1331?

Anyone ever put 3 of AW's protected 18650s in a 4C Mag with a 1331? Anybody got a runtime estimate? Seems like a pretty good "Persuader" to hang by the door, what say you? also is the 1331(806 lumens @10.8v) similar to the ROP-HI @ 7.2v?

Fivemega had his 1.5D using 3x17650 to drive the 1331. It's one of my favorites. [edit]The 1331 bulb can be driven as you describe 3x18650, but not in a tri-bored Mag host.[edit]

As to it fitting in a 4C, I wouldn't know ... I haven't tried it ... but the form factor would be NICE!

Take the cell capacity divided by the bulb amperage multiplied by 60 minutes to get a rough approximation of runtime...
2200mah divided by 1930mah times 60 minutes = 68
So, figure just over an hour of runtime.

[edit note:] :ohgeez: what makes sense in the middle of the night sure reads differently in the morning. doh!

thanks litho,
actually have a 700l on the way from fivemega, which I can't wait for. It was my understanding from him that 3x18650 can't fit in a bored body, only 17670. I have a 3C ROP mod for a car light, which I really like. Would rather have a 4C for a 'Bump in the night" light. thanks for the formula as well. BTW, love the MS reflector I got from you.

I run my 4C quadlux on 3x18650's. You have to get a softer spring for the tailcap so you don't chew up the last cell, but it fits nicely.

well... speaking of which... i have a HAIII 4C mag thats just waiting to have some guts put into it :D.. (waiting on the Maxflex)...

This is going to be my 'super' light... haven't quite figured out what LED's i'm going to put in it... But being able to use 3x18650, 3xLiON_SOON_TO_BE_C-cells, or 4 standard C-cells (alk or nimh) really makes me excited...

I'm sure I'll put in 3xLuxV's or something :)... maybe some X-bins if they come down in price :D

I have done this, except I added a cell extender to a 2 c M@g. This adds to the resistance and I have not flashed the 1331 yet. No runs times, sorry.

Just ordered the 4C mag from amazon. $16.24 shipped(I have prime). At that price I couldn't pass up having a new "BashLite".

I'm now planning on doing 3x18650s (that i found in an old laptop battery) in a 3D mag - they fit perfectly with only one wind of the old spring cut out.

Need to figure out what to put around the batterys to keep them from jiggling around though

I've found The 18650's fit inside 3/4" schedule 80 PVC (grey in color) nicely. Find spacers (large o-rings?) for the PVC and your in.

trivergata, I've turned down the spring seat 1/8" so the spring sits further in on 1x123 set-ups. Any idea on how far it'd need to be done for your set-up using the stock spring?

I have been waiting for AWR to send me a M*G C size HD and I will be using three protected AW 18650s for a "regulated" 1331 bulb in a 4C size host.
I hope it doesnt take much longer because i already feel like running some DD bulbs while i wait.

edit: okay, I wasnt able to wait - so direct/drive I have an 1185 with the three 18650s and even though I have to doubletap the switch to start it up it throws quite a bit of light for a C size host. I am using a Heavy stipple camless reflector. I started with the 1185 only because I know that it can be run at 11.1v but I am not sure about the 1331 bulb. The 1331 is a better choice for a longer run because I think that it uses 1/2 the amperage than the 1185 but I will save my 1331 bulbs for when i get my C size HD:)
