Let's see here...lowest & highest.
Power output, laser type, primary lasing wavelength, and operating mode (electrical and transverse electromagnetic):

10µW (0.01mW), green HeNe, 543.5nm, CW, TEM00
4MW (4,000,000 watts), infrared YAG, 1,064nm, pulsed, TEM unknown

4MW ??? DAMN :eek:oo:
you ahhhh, might want to be careful with that, even though its pulsed, thats has to be insane,
how the hell did you get that?

Well, I have 2 lasers right now.
A GBS-100 100mW 532nm Table top, TIN & Fan cooled unit.

My other Laser is a handheld, 532nm DPSS PPL-125 Optotronics Laser
Runs on 2 C cells, and is adjustable from 25 to 131mW (so I guess its both my lowest and highest power one)

Handheld:
1mW Red alien head laser pointer, 450mW Hercules

Tabletop: 800mW IR (ultra stable, used to look into rat brains) 5W Green (pumps a TI:Sapphire laser)

Well - I have a green HeNe which is < 1mw, but I also have some diode laser systems I've built that can put out < 1mw too. Highest power is an LPS-300 which puts out more than 350mw of 532nm laser light.

I have some <5mw 635nm pointers, and for highest power items I guess the Optotronics RPL-300 is the highest powered item. Visually, there's not much difference between that laser and the RPL-260.

How do you use the IR laser to look into rat brains? Inquiring minds wanna know :)

I have a 1mW hene 632nm that I don't use at all anymore and a 220+mW red Maxyzmodule, 658nm I think. I think they're both TEM00. :grin2:

I purchased that on Ebay in late-August of this year. I haven't had the means to power it up until just a few days ago...and yes, I have laser safety goggles for that wavelength.

My lowest power would either be a solid state laser in a cd player or a he-ne tube I've had since the 80's. I dunno which is weaker. The most powerful I have is the 40 watt CO2. I'm pretty sure it's not TEM00 based on the not-quite-round burn mark it puts in cardboard when you pulse it on real quick.

I wont give away everything, but I can say that it illuminates certain things we want to see better, and only those things.

Lowest: A 5mW newwish 532nm (blush)

Highest: A 125mW 532nm Dragonlaser

There is really no comparison between these two. One is the tricycle of laser pointers, the other is the rolls royce.

As much as i love lasers, there are some things i just don't want to do with them. Such as carve open a rats head and cook it with an IR laser.

Could make a good scene in a zombie or living dead movie :naughty:

Lowest is a 35mw HeNe, highest is a Nd:YAG at 100 watts CW infrared and 35 watts Q-switched frequency doubled (5kw pulses at 20khz).

My lowest is a 1mw HeNe
5 20 crystalasers, one modded to 60-80mw
1 10-15mw leadlight (?) pointer
1 300mw handheld greenie (optronics i belive, the 2 c cell modle)
1 20 watt diode laser, the controller did not survive the fire as it was ontop of my diswasher, but the 40 amp powersupply and laser where fine, (stored in another area)
I also have an 80 amp switcher that I did restore after the fire, that was for the diode laser so thats why it's listed) The diode controller can be rebuilt as i still have a spare comparator and about 10 transisors.
