I think I saw the gatlight, and a TnC 27mm Light. This was pretty fun to watch, but def not enough time on the LED stuff.

    PHP Code:
It was also interesting how they kept saying LED's generate no heat, when the current LED'do generate heat and if it isn't managed properly you can run into problems.
Thats what I was thinking too. The guy who was saying it must not know much about todays LED'S.

    .

If flashlights damage our environment that much,
we better get rid of our cars & computers, build a fire and start sending smoke signals....

A bit of an long commercial for SureFire.

Still, I digg programs like this......good stuff!!

They definitely put LED's in their place !!! LOL! But stop and think about how little history LED's have. They gave it the blessing of being the future of flashlights since they have smaller relative heat output, and demonstrated their size advantage, but they gave the focus on incands which has most of the history.

Love when Jim said "For me life begins at 700 lumens, and goes up from there" LOL! He sounded like what I would have said.

You mean it wasn't a special on how batteries are made, the impact of batteries on the environment, and the history of batteries? I thought they were just showing flashlights, along with all kinds of other battery powered devices (iPods, digital cameras, etc) as something useful that needs batteries.

In the begining there was dirt and sand. Today we turn it into flashlights.

I thought it was a total waste of time except for the few minutes showing the CPF gang. I expect soooooo much more from National G and I was really let down.

LED's don't put out heat? Where in the He## did they learn that?
LED's can make batteries last 10 times longer? Really? What about my SMJLED that has not run down its first set of batteries in a year?

All you LED monkeys were put back in your cages. Your time has not arrived yet. Like Jim said, we need to wait until you get them routinely over 600 Lumens.

IMHO: you didn't miss much, it's like 'Flashlights, batteries and sand: 101"

Oh, did I forget to mention that everything was an advertisement for SureFire, and that More Flashlights = More Toxic Waste?
Granted... I liked being recognized as a flashaholic on TV...

Thumbs down Re: Bay Area get together for television program

man, I was looking forward to the show and it was a complete letdown. <5 min on CPF members, >20 min of Surefire (the ratio should have been reversed). (my numbers aren't completely accurate, but that's what it seemed like) The rest was filler...

Haven't read the whole thread here and just found out I don't get that channel. Can anyone record and burn a DVD of this? I'm sure a passaround of such would be appreciated by those who don't have NG Channel.

I was just glad to learn that my L4 last 10 times longer than my 6P on the same batterries, and it doesn't generate heat. Whew thats a relief.

Matrix, see above for Tiger's list. I just burned mine to my DV-R from Tivo. Not HD quality, but plenty adequate for this show. Already got it imported on my PC to edit out commercials. Sending to a few in tomorrow's mail.

If you edit out the parts about mining sand and dirt and boxite, if you edit out the parts showing the trucks running across the country, if you edit out the rehashing after every commercial, ...

Then the remaining 15 minutes of information might actually be fun to watch.

Did I miss something? I didn't see the tank light in service.

Was the tank light the big box shaped light that the guy had mounted on a big swivle? If so, they showed it on for about a second, but they didn't show the beam, just the light itself.

At least we know a lemon makes a better battery than a potato. You can also make a battery out of a glass of water by adding some salt, foil, and copper. Also if you pile up layer after layer of crap you can light up a small bulb. I think we all learned a little about a lot of things, but not much about flashlights. What a waste of time. They could have spent all that wasted time on LED lights and all the cool things they can do.

Overall, the show was not what I had anticipated. It seemed they were looking for some clips to kill air time. I was also hoping to see the tank light in action, I even wore my sunglasses. It was great to see some of the members of this forum, though.

They tried to cover way too much in an hour. Raw material coverage was not necessary. Maps with arrows to CA - whew - now I know where all stuff gets sent to.
Now I can see the darkness .

I had no expectations, so I thought the show was excellent. Remember it is geared to the average viewer who has 3.5 flashlights in their house averaging $8.50 each. ROFL! I groaned at that part...and was waiting for the wife's next logical question. Luckily she was in the other room.

The lemon put out enough "Voltage" to run a small clock. I always thought there was more to life than voltage. All that talk about current and Amps must be overrated.

I really enjoyed the show tonight! I know people complained about the time spent on each subject ect., but its about time there was a show for flashoholics. And hey, they could have spent half an hour talking about maglight, but they focused on a real flashlight engineering company. Good job to the members of the board that were interviewed. I think its time we plan some regional get togethers, that would be cool. I would drive a couple of hours to get to meet more of you in person. Good job!

Only one problem- I am now more fired up on feeding my light collection......

I was a little dissapointed not seeing some of the member's lights in action, specially that tank light! I loved the part about "light starts at 700 lumens" LOL!
