AFAIK the P1D CE will use no regulation if the battery's voltage is higher than 3V.
In my HDS there is an unprotected R123 that gets charged up to 4.2V and I wonder if I can use it in the P1D CE?
Cree's specs show an max Vf of 3.9V... Does that mean that my 4.2V cell will fry the LED?

TIA!

If your HDS is regulated then there should be no problem running the Cree. I put a Cree in my Streamlight 2L 3W and it runs very well with 2-RCR123 3.0v, 2- RCR123 3.6v, 1- 17670 3.6v batteries. I also a a VINET that I run a RCR123 3.6v battery and have no problems.
