Default Nickel Plated Mini-Mags, Electroless, CLOSED

I have had a few requests to do another run of Nickel Plated mini-mags. I prefer to do only new lights that are current stock ( easy to get ). This is only for Maglites.

Each light has to be completely disassembled and stripped of the factory anodize prior to going to the nickel plater. I can do this work.

The cost for each is as follows:

    $45.00 Standard 2AA Mini-Mag
    $57.00 MagLED 2AA
    $62.00 MagLED 3AA

This includes first class shipping, delivery confirmation, in the US. International shipping, Global Priority Mail, is an additional $3.00 for most countries. The resulting finish is ‘BRUSHED NICKEL’

Additional work I can do on these

    $4.00 Body Grooves
$4.00 Head Grooves ( sometimes call fins )
$6.00 Full Polish, results in a mirror like finish.

I can also do Maglite C and D lights. I have a mini-lathe and the machine work I can do is somewhat limited. If you are interested – send me PM and I will price out the work.

I can send along custom lights, I will not be responsible if they get lost or damaged. These are mailed to me, then to the plater, then back to me, then back to the original person. That’s 4 trips through the mail.

Send me a PM for Paypal information.

PLEASE incude the following in the Paypal Description:

    Your CPF user ID.
    Item you are getting.
    Any additional work

    The picture below represents the finishes;

Full Polish, Brushed Finish, Standard silver mini-mag.

    Will,

What is the approximate turn around time for a Full Polished 2AALed?

Will, these are gorgeous. So if I want to get a standard Mini Mag with body & head grooves, and full polish, I should PayPal you $59 total? You want it sent to you as a PM also? I know I want 1 or 2...depending on:

How much extra would it be to have you groove it to match FM's recent gold AA shown here (if you can)?

I can match that no problem. If you have one and can take a picture of the light that would be helpful. put a scale (ruler or tape measure along side it). - It looks like the body grooves are the same width as the knurled area, I can't tell from the picture how many head groove there are and the location. I see that you already did a picture, I just need a reference with a ruler.

Will, thanks for being able to match it. I took 4 closeups of the gold and also the blue which I'm sure are the same grooves, and are easier to see against ruler. Left these as links so you can download and enlarge for detail. Let me know if you need other views.

I'll order two of these, so look for PayPal of $120 now. I got your paypal email in my PM from you.

I would like to leave this open for another 12 days, after that I want to get any custom work done and get the lights sent out to be plated.

That's fine by me. These are beautiful AA's, so I would think others would get them....similar to FM's gold version....they make high quality gifts at the very least.

I have enough at this time to meet the platers minimum requirement. I have to order a few lights from action-lights which I would like to do on Monday. Certain lights are not available locally.

If there is any additional interest - please let me know, otherwise I will go with what I have now.

    thanks

    Will,

How large is your lathe, can it handle 5 or 6 cell Mags?

NO - the largest is probably a 3D mag. I can groove the head or the body. I can not cut it down and re thread.

the lathe I have is an ENCO 7X10

    Thanks Will!

I have a body I would love to have nickel plated, but it's larger than that.

If you just want the body nickel plated and no lathe work - I can do that.

Understood! This body has some machining marks that need to be removed prior to finishing.

I'll see what I can do about that, but I'm not sure how soon I can do that.

will, how durable would the full polish be for, say a bare Al "shelf queen"?

The aluminum oxidizes fairly quickly. It will go from a nice shine to duller day by day. The aluminum will scratch easily. Also - the polish on the different parts comes out a little different without the plating.

    Hi will,

Like LuxLuthor, I would like to get one of these machined to match my gold-plated light. I see he's ordered two, so if you can do a third let me know and i'll send the PP Thanks!

a few items to make note of.

I have received paypal from a few and I am waiting on some lights and paypal from others. I hope to get these in the mail to the plater on Monday.

CPF - there seems to be problems with PMs and lots of server busy messages. I still have my AOL account. In the event you can't get through here (CPF) please email me at

pwill327@aol.com ( do not use this for paypal )

This offering was for mainly Maglites. I had a few requests for some other lights which I passed on. I did a sample run of Maglites prior to the first offering. This was with my own money and my own risk. I made some adjustments and did the first run of these. The work on that was first rate and I was pleased with the results. I don't want to take in an expensive light, which is already unique in some way, and have problems.

The items I ordered from Action Lights are scheduled to be delivered next Monday. I had hoped to have them for the weekend to do the work on them. Looks Like Tuesday they will be sent out to the Nickel shop.

I did some of the work to match the gold lights - they still have to stripped and polished. That is oil and some aluminum chips still on them.

I have not received any lights that were sent in yet.

    I will post again tomorrow.

That's so cool to see the stages of something like this...for noobs like me that wonder how they are done...like that Discovery Channel show "How things are made".
