I've tentatively found that I can safely drive a 3.85 V 1.20 Amp KPR 139 in my PT40 with Nimh's.

The PT40 will successfully drive a Carley KPR 3.7 V 1.70 Amp bulb for short periods, but I'm afraid of meltdown if I leave it on for a longer period.

What 4AA compact flashlights might stand up to the KPR 3.7 V 1.7 Amp Carley?

Sorry about your light.

I may try the 3 cell Xenon Star instead. Not as much power, but it's supposed to have a cool blue color that cuts through fog instead of the typical yellow.

I hope it looks like an HID light.

BTW: If you check some older posts, there's supposed to be a 4 AA aluminum light coming out. It was unveiled at the last Shot Show (search Shot Show). I'm not sure which company though (not PT). I don't know whether it will have an aluminum reflector.

I drove to work with the Carley KPR 3.7 V 1.7 Amp in my Dorcy Boss 4AA. It took less than 5 minutes to start deforming the center of the reflector.

Ideas?
