    Default Orange vs. Amber

Im working on an automotive project with LED and I'm stuck with choosing the color. In the US, I know we have DOT regulations and such, and I would like to match them as closely as possible. Whats the difference in wavelenght (in nm) between amber and orange? Also, does anyone know the official wavelength for amber? Finally, what is the DOT official wavelength for amber?
    thanks!

You can try the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) available as a pdf download here:
    http://mutcd.fhwa.dot.gov/kno-2003r1.htm

It covers traffic lights, and might specify wavelengths (not sure).

Generally orange leds are orange-red. You need amber for such an application.
