just had a first... infinity ultra G fails... procedure to clean up alkaline corrosion/leakage

almost exact same failure mode as ARC AAA. cell leaked at bottom causing corrosion. this happens less frequently for AA alkaline cells vs smaller AAA alk cells with twisty head design (cam action) due to stouter case of AA vs AAA.

carefully apply vinegar with cue tip, taking care not to touch anodizing.

after rinsing off with lots of plain water. then take some sand paper wrapped on a wooden dowel. this strips corrosion down to clean metal again.

after treatment aluminum is fairly reactive. you need to apply some type of protection like 959 nyogel. aluminum will form a light anodic on it's own.

works like a champ again! this procedure will work for any alk cell leakage only.
This procedure will also work for ARC AAA.

I stand corrected ... vinegar is acetic acid not muriatic acid.

still would not apply any kind of acid on anodizing.

Cy - I had the same thing happen to my Ultra G, but it was so bad at the bottom that it corroded away the negative contact. When I cleaned it up (soaked vinegar inside the tube) the contact was gone.
