nice job! which 'version' of star trek is that model from?

Thanks, Dr. Lava! This model is based upon the Phaser II as seen in the original series. The model itself is produced by Diamond Select Toys and to my eye is the most authentic looking of all the phaser models that have been made so far. It has a shape instantly recognized by fans everywhere. It has 5 different sound effects taken right from the soundtrack.

Now, what do I have to do to put you into a Laser Phaser today?

I am SO getting one.

Any tips or problems you ran into while modifying would be great to know. Which diode or where you bought it would be great(diode, batteries etc.)

Oh man, I got to make me one of those. It is my next project, any details on parts used and sources would be greatly appreicated. I am a huge fan of Star Trek and that phaser is just too cool. Thanks for sharing.
