FS: Modded Inova X1

"Big Blue" details:
It's a 3D mag, with the head with 6 "turbo head" style cuts, with light crenellations in the bezel, checkering in the knurling, and a nice pattern on the tailcap. The Warm-White SSC P4 is Arctic Alumina expoxied onto an anodized heatsink, with ultra blue GITD around the emitter. The checkering and tailcap pattern also have ultra blue GITD epoxy in them.
The front window is a UCL.

There is a slight defect with the threading on the head:It got a little chewed up during the machining process, but not enough to hurt functionality or waterproofness. Also, one row of the checkering is slightly smaller than the others, but you shouldn't notice this unless you look for it.
one more thing:to make the head focus properly I had to remove all but a few of the threads on the front of the light; unless you're beating something with this light you shouldn't notice anything different from the fit of a regular mag.

Modded Inova X1 details:
It has been carried for one day unmodded, carried for one day modded.
I machined the nice new brass head that is a MUCH tighter fit than the original, with a nitize dropin implanted. This new head won't be going anywhere any time soon. There is a greatly improved electrical path-I soldered the ground straight to the brass can, and the positive lead directly to the spring. The leds have been lightly frosted with scotchbrite to produce a smooth beam great for up close work. The entire module was potted with GITD epoxy; giving a nice afterburner effect and increasing the light's durability.

The new head draws 210mA on a NIMH; the old head drew 300mA.
Runtime results using the Duracell AA that came with the light:
0 Hours-210mA draw
10 Hours-155mA draw
13 Hours-unknown draw, seemingly bright to my middle-of-the-nightvision, light still restarts when turned off
20 Hours-still emitting a very dim light, but will not restart when turned off

A charged Sony 2500mAh NIMH is included.

Re: FS: Modded Inova X1

Nice mod. I was thinking of doing something exactly like this, but with an extra Opalec module I have.

From where did you scavenge the brass head/bezel? Or did you machine it?

If this is still here on Monday, I'll take it but I hope someone else will come along before then.

Re: FS: Modded Inova X1

I machined the bezel myself and made it .005" wider than the original bexel and gave it a 2 degree taper. It took a great deal of pushing to press fit it. Trust me, it now has an excellent electrical path and won't be coming out any time soon.

Tonight I'll try and get the nicks out with scotchbrite and polish.

Re: FS: Modded Inova X1

After 10 hours the draw went down to 155mA
After 13 hours it was still running well and would turn on/off without trouble
After 20 hours it was still (dimly) lit but wouldn't restart when turned off

Re: Please buy my stuff so I can pay my tuition!

Can a flupic and SSC P4 work from 3 regular Alkaline C's? If so I may have some other requests to help you out, let me know.

Re: Mag modss and asst'd lights for sale

I'm interested in this one:
Kinda rough brass 1 cell body for E series $15
You have a pic? I'll take it if it will accept E series on both ends regardless.
