Hello guys. I am a new member on CPF, the reason I joined was because of my friend telling me how good this forum is. I have tried to get opinions from many other places but they don't seem to know anything.

Anyways is this a good knife?

It seems new and different from the original Hissatsu developed by James Willams (surefire instructor). I am basically wondering if I should get the Hissatsu Folder (shorter blade length) or the Hissatsu (longer blade length). I am also wondering if any of these knives are good. When I say good, I mean, reliable, durable, stays sharp, and high quality. If any of you guys have or know about this knife I would appreciate if you would give me some feedback. In addition, what is a good site that is reliable in turn of service and pricing (cheapest) that I can buy from. Thanks a lot; I have heard many things about this forum.

Re: I need help-(new member)

Welcome to CPF, Mr Bond, why hasn't "Q" suplied you with some superspy-level knives already, is Her Majesty's Secret Service hard up for cash or something? ;)

Well, it has AUS-8 steel which is decent enough, nothing special, CRKT has slowly been downgrading many of their knives to "AUS-4" which IIRC is just another name for 420J2, an absolutely horrible steel

at $79.95 though, it's overpriced for what your'e getting, you could get far more reputable knives for that price or less....

Spyderco;
Endura 4 (VG-10 steel)
Delica 4 (VG-10)
Native (CPM S30V)
Salt 1 (H-1)
Harpy (VG-10)
Scorpius (VG-10)

Byrd;
Meadowlark
Cara-Cara
Pelican
Crossbill
Flight

Benchmade;
Mini-Griptilian
Griptilian
Pikal

Ka-Bar;
Dozier Design folder

Buck
110
112

best bet is to get to a knife store and try out some knives, see which ones feel *right* to you

If you like the whole assistedoppening deal, look into kershaws. heres a couple

http://www.agrussell.com/knives/by_...ershaw_knives_junkyard_dog_ii_plain_edge.html
http://www.agrussell.com/knives/by_maker/e_through_k/kershaw/kershaw_speedsafe_silver_blur.html
http://www.agrussell.com/knives/by_maker/e_through_k/kershaw/kershaw_speedbump.html

All of these are around the same size, better steel, better handle material, all have the assisted opening, ect.

hope this helps ;)

Re: I need help-(new member)

if its the style you like, consider this from the crkt site:

James arrived at this modern version as a backup weapon for close-quarters combat. This is a focused single-purpose knife for use in anti-terrorist/close-quarters battle (CQB) environments, either as a primary or a secondary weapon to augment the handgun in the hands of trained professionals.

kind of a unitasker for that kind of money, I think. but I support the collecting of anything you please if it doesnt bother anybody else. :rock:

It should be a decent/pretty good knife. But, like already mentioned, you can get more knife for your money. Just about any Spyderco would perform as well or better.
