no heatsink?
just the star on plastic?
it was worth $1 at the flea market but what are they thinking?
current measurement coming up next.
has a 3w luxeon side emitter.
this is a silver/black with tilt stand and uses a 4 d carrier.

Doug's got there already
yeah....its hard to say what was the engineer thinking when they made it
for one thing its not driven at 3 watt....not by the output measurements
I got one of these with at 15 dollar discount at Sears for getting a Credit card there. I also picked up the Craftsman/dorcy Rechargeable lantern at a Sears Hardware that closed, also for $15. I took the reflector/lamp assembly from the LED and stuffed it into the rechargeable. After the LED died unexpectedly I put in a regular luxeon. It looks the same beam wise and has not fried yet. I think there might have been a cold solder joint on the SE star.
I did put a resistor in series to limit the current. No fancy circuts.
My doctor says I am a paranoid narcissist. I have the feeling I am plotting against myself.
I got one of these for $40, and the output/current draw went way down (50mA) after a few hours of use.
Does anyone know something I could "do" with that handy body and big reflector?![]()
this one is ok but i bet that luxeon will have a short life.
