I found this waterproof container that says, "fresh-r-matic". I think it might be one of those waterproof match containers. Anyway, an 18650 fits perfectly inside of it diameter wise but it's too long. Is a 123 battery the same diameter? Will two 123 be shorter than one 18650? My next step will be to find a machinist that can cut the top off and make a cap out of it.

You can try a 18500, the RCR123 are 16mm in Diameter. (34mm long)...
2xcr123 are longer then 18650...

Great idea, can you find some more ?

A 123 is 16.5 mm, my 18650's are 18.2 mm.
2 123 is just slightly longer than an 18650.

I'm thinking one 123 would be ideal then because one AA battery is actually too long. The 18650 does have a little room on the sides so perhaps a 123 will fit.

As far as finding more, I don't even know what this is in the first place. I guessing it's a backpacking dry match container as I have seen something similar in pictures. I find a lot of odd things in thrift stores.

***edit - ok maybe I'm wrong. This match container seems thin compared to what I have. Mine is very thick walled and aluminum

BTW, I can have this done for you AND make it a working light... :)

Thanks but I was thinking locally, shipping is outrageous.
