This contest is a little long. What's to stop someone from enlisting the help of a professional photographer/photoshopper?
I guess one could do that... but that would cost some $ without any guarantees of winning... besides there's quite a few competitors out there with mad skills... there's a couple that haven't submitted anything yet... 2 of the last competitions top 3 - miciobigio, stillphoto etc....
Let me add 2 more for fun. I call them GatLight Liquid.
Again absolutly no Photoshop or any editing except resizing.

Just received the light today Walter, amazing! I'm workin on concepts now.
Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.
Actually, it does. The camera opens the shutter, and images (light) hit the sensor (CCD, film, whatever). The light keeps on hitting the sensor until the shutter closes again. This is how people can use a long shutter speed to create text or images in a still photo with a laser.
Did that help any?
didn't make much sense in words but i pulled my canon out and tried that
works...but needs heavy heavy sharpening
I don't have photoshop, but this might give you guys who do some ideas: "battery powered battery"
hivoltage, what battery were you using?

This is my Photoshop contest entry.
I thought it would be an appropriate entry for today's occasion to remember the fallen. You are not forgotten.
I wouldn't be embarrassed to reveal, I was a bit teary-eyed while throwing this together. I remembered my friend who perished six years ago today, on the rooftop of Tower 1.

I think we have a winner... as a tribute![]()
Since I am also a big aviation nut, here's my take on the Photoshop contest.

LOL! I like that one better -- there's more mood to it. The gun muzzles on the Gatlight is a nice touch!
Aren't those Warthogs awesome??

For Photoshop Contest.
I had this picture in mind and this was suppose to be my first posted picture. But I couldn't find this picture. It was because I was googling for Gatling, the inventor himself. Took me a while to realized that it wasn't Gatling sitting in the picture. It was Maxim.

I've always loved the Warthogs, it's a shame that they have been outmoded by other planes / targets have changed. I watched a whole show devoted to them, and I'm completely addicted to the strange / wicked sound they make when they fire their guns.
Yeah the muzzles were fun / a bit of a pain. Sampled a few from the original gun in the image (based on where they were in relation to clock positions around the front. Then had to rotate them slightly to line up with each bar of the light. Thanks for the kind words! The paint on the front of the plain was rather jacked up as well. Retouched that, and added digital "grain" or noise to the gatlight to match the noise in the original photo...I'll post a before photo...

Oh, wow, stillphoto, you did quite some works there. And I was thinking "man, that's a shiny looking A-10 there..." in your photoshopped picture. Not too many nice A10s out there, lol. You even left the rivets alone, lol. That blue glow in the Gatlight made the whole plane look very high-tech.
Your method is very similar to mine. Gotta have the digital noises added in or its a dead giveaway. Getting the colors to match the picture is the hardest part for me. Layer mask/Vector mask is a godsend.
Yes, its too bad they won't be flying for very long but hey, I got to see 'em in the air. Fun to watch in the air!
