Are there any HID flashlight that uses ordinary A35w utomotive HID bulb such as D2S/D2R or aftermarket HID H4/H7/et. That would be a boon to me since from where i live ordering bulb overseas would be expensive and risky.

Thanks

I can be wrong, but to my knowledge, most HID-spotlights in the 100-250$ region do have automotive bulbs and electronics! Because the automotive-systems are widely produced for a few years now, they are cheaper then most new designs.

The problem is: I don't know where you live, but in Europe, there are no manufacturers that I know of, selling HID-spotlights.

I ordered a few Platinum Thor's in the US and modified them to HID at home.
Shipping one Thor to my coutry costed me an extra 40$ which was exactly the unit-prize!

Regards,

Ra.

All of the larger lights with a built-in 12-volt SLA battery I've seen use an automotive type ballast and an automotive type H7 lamp.

The 130W incandescent Thor uses an incandescent H4 automotive lamp (that says "not for automotive use" on it). I have swapped an H7 into the Thor using a homemade lamp adapter.
