:wave:Hi Guys, its been almost a month, and I'm itching for some more mozzie action.. Anyone interested in bringing some flashlights is very welcome:) Anyone not in possesion of a flashlight is also welcome.. Money will likely cure that illness based on the last meet:whistle:

The last get together at Jells Park was great. Would most be interested in another Jells Park meet and doing a walk from the main 'base camp' rather than finding another location? Im interested in meeting earlier regardless, say 6.30pm, as its a fair drive afterwards for some, and time slips by with so much great gear to check out.. Maybe we can find the elusive fire/bbq that was already happening last time. I havent sent around a mass email, so if you know someone interested, please let em know this is happening:thumbsup:

Id like to commit to having a meet in the next 1 - 5 weeks. Some feedback to discuss and concrete the date sooner rather than later would be great.. Strong objections can definitely extend this range, and in special circumstances a solo meet can be arranged at any time:party:

Can a Lunar specialist please chime:poke:.. To me the moon was pretty minimal tonight, Im guessing itl be close to full moon roughly the 3rd saturday from today, so that would likely 'dull' the evening, so the better meet times would be within 2 weeks or on the other side of 4 weekends from now.

How many would prefer sooner rather than later, and similarly who prefers 4 weeks to prepare/charge batteries?:)

There are locations in the western suburbs, but I believe most attendees are from the eastern portion of 'Victoria', so location scouting is best left to those in the area.

Hope to hear from yous and make this one as good as last time.

For those at the last meet who saw my 'stockish' mag 6C, Iv made a significant upgrade to it:) Im not sure how much peak cp iv gained but the overall flood has been somewhat sacrificed (again not measured). But it now has the throw:) I think it even outthrows my best throwers the ROP LOW on Primaries 3.5cells. Even with oldish cells (Vrest 3.00 vs 3.06 /cell) in the newer design and the original design using the newer (very new (note 9 cells in series adds to .1-.2A or more Current drain difference) ,, whatever, the old setup with new cells is outhrowen by the new design/arrangement running on the cells used at the show and a bit more round here for testing:).. So now i need to get a spare bulb, plus a spacer for an additional cell (a 1cm from AW would suffice) add the extra umph this 27Volt rester could actually 'start putting out some decent light' that is with the additional cell giving 30V rest:devil:

So should i bring both for the comparo? Man the cost is adding up... Anyone local got amondotech titaniums in oz for similar prices to US with the conversion ontop ofcourse? If has purchased amondos overseas at good prices, could you get in touch with me, please :help:

Ill be bringing also, the 2C with a 3cell 1.85A arrangement:) Oh, and i shrunk the packagking of my LF700 bulb which was in a 3C mag to shorter than 10cm<4". Its pretty crude and my good friend Masking tape is holding on to his end of the bargain:)

I really wanted to buy and mod something to challenge the HIDs, and its a simple matter of cost... Say a MaxaBeam should do It on throw:) Hmmm... donno... the aussie dollar is a bit better than when it was 43cents in 98:) Ill think about it.

Well, looking forward to seeing some commitment. Ill check in soon. If you werent at the last meet ignore my dribble in the first paragraph, and tell us what you are bringing or at least tease a bit:)

If you haven't got anything, again,, come along.. Its free and the lights will blow your mind. I need hours to look at the smaller stuff.. Hours i didnt have:( last time.

Think we should post a specific meeting point with something like GPS coordinates

Gday Norm (im thinking about a purchase, ill pm), and also will you have the WE 10W HID?, and Hello to you to Quokked, hope yous are both doing well. Any new toys or just surprises:poke:

Im a third for Jells:grin2:, I think the place has potential:)

The GPS idea is interesting, except I dont own one.. Might be able to source one, so its possible... .... . I say ... .... because the 45 minute assembly time last time (no criticism:)) would likely double by the time the gps non-regulars (me) work out how to turn it on :sigh:.. But the idea is here :) How many people have em? 'Enough people' is a good enough answer for privacy reasons if you know.. Maybe something else like using Goog Erth and finding a short walk destination via gps from the stated meet after a convoy if necessary, 'following the light' could be fun and a shootout at that location if anyone has tripod and wants to experiment more with cameras. I'll (unless i forget) try to sort a laser tape measure for target ranging:)

DOES ANYONE HAVE A LUX-METER? (and a way to use it in the field?) Iv seen a cheapish one at bunnings but dont know exactly if its good/how etc..

Great to hear from you guys, hope more chime in and we can start debating date:)

I'm in for Jells, but as an alternative, Braeside Park is even bigger, darker and more deserted at night...

Perhaps saturday 22nd or 29th of Sept??

The GPS idea is interesting, except I dont own one.. Might be able to source one,

- GPS coordinates is easy to get a hold of, use Google Maps
I've got a GPS on my PDA that can get coordinates, most of the incar navigation systems and add on systems show the exact coordinates as well.
When you have the spare cash get a hold of a Tom Tom series GPS, I've tried a few and these seem the best out there.

- LUX meter, YCLO brought one along to the last meet, if someone brings a tripod we can put it into a fixed location (maybe with large quantities of duct tape)

- Better idea is to meet in another location, ie Macca's Carpark on Cnr Springvale/ Canterbury Road, then convoy up to the meeting point.

- 29th of Sept is better gives us more time to rally everyone

- In terms of New lights, nothing much for me, waiting for Koala/YCLO's
E-MT project to start shipping more than anything

- For good value CR123a's you could get some Duracells/ SF or Energisers from lighthound www.lighthound.com , it's where I get all my stuff from!

- Spacers, you could get rare earth magnets from Jaycar....
www.jaycarelectronics.com
They're out in heaps of places and it's a last bastion for electronics geeks :D

- Moon phases, looks like a overlap with full moon and last quarter
http://www.museum.vic.gov.au/planetarium/solarsystem/phases/index.html

PS. I'm okay at the moment, training the newbies at work, could use some outside time!

I've got some new toys since the last meet... you boys are a bad influence on my wallet...

Hope we can have it on the 29th, but it seems this time the response is not as keen as before:thinking:

Unfortunately I am in China at the moment. I won't be able to join you guys. I will come home will a bag full of torches :), just kidding. I am a bit upset that Australian Custom confiscated my SWISS keychain screwdriver set and yet I was served with metal knife on the plane.

If I had some spare cash at the moment i'd fly down for the meet up, i've been checking out the jetstar and virgin flights etc, but just hasn't worked out yet...

Its been too long since i've caught up with Hotbeam, and i'd like to meet Geoff and YC in person, as well as meet some new friends too :) Have fun guys!

I'm in for any saturday night... I'm 35 and married, so my partying days are over...:(

Someone(aerosimon?) needs to take the bull by the horns and CONFIRM a date for this follow-up meet...

All right then. Time to take this bull by the horns.

How's 8:00 PM Saturday November 10 2007 at Jells Park? The page quokked linked tells me that the sun sets at 20:04, twilight ends 20:33, and it'll be the new moon.

Where in Jells Park? First right turn off Waverley Road.

There will be a BBQ at 7pm beforehand. Family, pets and friends are welcome :)

Takers?
