Thread: What should I do with this Gold SPY?

Default What should I do with this Gold SPY?

A while back I saw modamag was plating stuff and thought to my self, "gold finger". So I sent him the parts and said, have at it. Well, what came back several weeks later was this most beautiful 24k gold plate job that made me laugh, what the heck am I going to do with this! LOL Being 24k it is too soft to EDC, so it really is the quintessential shelf queen. It is a fully functioning 005 with STFu and a Seoul.

So I decided to let you all decide.

I think it should be the door prize that goes to the CPF'er who travels the farthest to attend PF9.

Are you going to make it to PF9? That would be cool if you did.

I have a batch of about 20 scratch and dent prototypes ready to go. I only need the lens o-ring to finish them (should be here soon). If you are interested in one of them please stay tuned. I will release them this week.

I will be interested after hearing so many good comments about lights.

Only a girl is worthy of a golden light
There is a type of perfection that transcends the quest for lumens. Buying a $250 1-cell light for "lum factor" is like buying a $250 single malt Scotch for the alcohol content.

Oh wait, that was another thread!

Does the Smithsonian have a flashlight exhibit? I'd be willing to bet they do (and if they don't they certainly should!), I'd find it hard to believe they don't.

    AMAZING!!

Yes, of course they do, but it's in my bedroom and only able to be viewed by appointment. I see what Sigman is getting at, though, and I think he's right, I think it should go to my bedroom...eh, er, the Smithsonian.

About those dent and scratch prototypes, I'll be keeping my eye out. That may be something I can actually use (for more than occupying shelf space!)

If your idea flies and you decide to pass on the trip please let me know so I can head up there to PF9 and pick up my prize! I just had to move to San Antonio??? Used to live way down in southern California and might have had you beat but I thought the "Gold Rush" was over.

Ahhhhhh......... Just sell me Goldie! Afterall, I didn`t even really get to check out my the new SS Spy 005 with the SSC P4 and new electronics cause I instantly gave it away for free. Silly me so probably not a good idea to sell it to me.

Either give it to Sasha, or auction in on eBay and donate the proceeds to CPF.

I'd be interested in a possible "scratch & dent" SPY purchase. I really love my SPY, but I kinda do hate to carry it outside of the house. I've been thinking if I could find an appropriately attractive and classy holster/pouch that that would be a good way to carry it safely. But a "scratch & dent" version sounds cool too.

One secure way to carry the SPY is to attach the lanyard to your belt. It is best to use a lanyard with a quick release clip. I do that sometimes, and then slip the light in my pocket.

Are you sure that wasn't found in one of Saddams palaces next to the gold plated AK-47?

Why do you have to give it away? It's the ultimate 'jewel' of your efforts. Make/get made a nice little holder and put it on display somehwere in your home or office. Conversation piece if you will. Or just keep it for those black tux only events Maybe that's the selfish approach. I don't know, if I made something so cool and got it plated like that, i'd keep it until I couldn't afford to anymore!

Although if you were looking to really take your business off, you could do a publicity stunt with it. Send it to a famous celebrity or something ridiculous like that...

Voting is closed! The results are as follows.

The light will be auctioned off here on CPF in this forum. I will start it in the next few days. It will be a 7 day auction. All the proceeds will go to CPF.

IMO, it is better to have the auction here in our community. If you know somebody outside of CPF that would be interested please let them know about this.

Please stay tuned by subscribing to this thread.
