Superb as usual Fred.
I did like the tiny little holes that were decorative on the first BlockyBoy, but it may be just illusion that they are bigger on the new version???
Anyhow, looking forward to seeing the order thread!!

Very nice Fred,I like the second design better.
It is a go on the Blocky Boy!
I found a local shop that I will be working with to produce a few more lights for sale over the next few months.
There will only be 50 of the Blocky Boy made; your choice of finish would be bare AL, EN plated, or Black Anodized.
It will most likely be at least six weeks, and perhaps two months, before the completed lights are available for sale. As we near completion, I will start a sales thread at that time.
In the meantime, if you indicate an interest in a Blocky Boy on this thread, then I will give you priority when the sales begin. I will start a list in the first post of those indications of interest.
And a tip of the hat to ICUDoc for noticing that the negative version of the Blocky Boy is pretty neat, too:

I would like one. EN plated. Possibility you could go with lower mA's to led, say 500mA's. Asking that poor little CR123 to do a lot and extended runtimes would be exciting, heat wise. The GD circuit is buck/boost right, then it can be run with an RCR123?
Bill
Bill,
Sure, no reason that I could not order either the NexGen or the GD drivers set for 500 mA instead of 750. The GD driver is a buck/boost so rechargeables are perfect for that. The battery bore is large enough to accommodate rechargeables.
I will let folks choose what they want, within reason, for refector, i.e., smooth or stippled, and driver, i.e., primary only driver like the NG, or buck/boost like the GD. I also have some MJ drivers, which are for primaries only, at either 550 mA or 1A. There would be a premium added to the overall price of the light for the 1A MJ driver, however.
I'm interested in (1) in EN.
Is the black anodized version HAIII?
Thanks.
jwl,
I would opt for HA III, dyed black and then sealed, to prevent fading. However, dying HA III does result in a small reduction of durability.
I will have to see what the local anodizer has to offer before I decide for sure. Perhaps even a clear, HA II might be a choice worth considering.
I'm down for 1 in EN.
Thanks
I'm in for one in EN, stipple, GD750.
Thanks!
Block Boy, eh?EN Plated please!
And I tank U berry, berry much you Fanatical type light Dude!![]()
Ken
What are you doing reading this?Get to work already!
Hehe!

Fred - I am definately in on this run (assuming I get in under the wire).
En plated please. Probably GD750.

i would be possibly intrested in a EN plated light if you could tell me if flupic is a possibility and if a better led comes out by the time you get ready to make this would you use that instead. do you have a size comparison of the lights to something else or even in your hand.
thank you
Mcgizmo Ti-pd-s thanks to KENSTER,Jetbeam MKIIx, Luma power D-Mini
Good question on the length. I would guess 2.55" to 2.70" depending on if the tail is reccesed or not but just a guess? Well, Fred???![]()
Ken
Damn, you are good! 2.69" according to my caliper.
faiz23,
FluPic is a possibility. The Blocky Boy uses a converter module that will take any .55" diameter converter. The LED itself sits on the top of the module. I will have some extra modules made so that folks can build their own light engines and upgrade whenever the urge strikes.
Hell, I may just sell the bodies without any electronics and let folks do their own installation.![]()
Fred, can`t tell from the pictures but sounds like the Block Boy has a reccesed tail but dang it all, I missed by .01"![]()
![]()
Hehe!
You can send mine without electronics since I have 7 of the .55" FluPics and I believe I would like to drop one of those in the light for multi levels. Plus, I tear apart and in some way mod just about every flashlight I buy anyway.Yup, I`m a
modding flashaholic dude!
Thanks,
Ken
kenster,
It's Blocky Boy, not Block Boy--you are making him sound as though he's to be incarcerated in Huntsville, instead of being the stylin' dude that he is.![]()
Fred, I was wondering how many times I would have to post the lights name without the "Y" before you would pick up on it!Hehe!
The timing of the LE build for your Blocky Boy lights may work out nice with the release of Waynes new GDuP multi stage driver if all is going well for him on that project???That driver seems like a great combo with this light!
![]()
Fred - What Kenster said. Well the part about Wayne's new GDuP anyway.
Kirk
kenster or Nebula,
Do either of you know whether Wayne's GDuP will be the same standard .55" diameter as most of his converters?
As I said, I'm certainly willing to sell the body and let folks pick and choose their own driver.
Fred - Wane does not mention the board's size in his posts, but does indicate at post #8 that it will fit the ecan. Here is the link - http://candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=174120
Kirk
Fred, Wayne is designing the GDuP for the E-Can as Kirk stated which takes a .55" board. That was his original plan but that could change I suppose???I would check with him on the thickness of the GDuP to see if it might fit in the LE you have designed for the Blocky Boy. From what I have read it sounds like a real winner if Wayne can get it all together in a .55" board and have the finished product in time for your cool new flashlight.
Ken
Uhhhh??? The above seemed like a normal non Kenster type post?!?Borrowed those little Dudes from Skolamax`s Sig line and I feel better now! Hehe!

Thanks to AWR's PhotoShop skills, here's what the Blocky Boy might look like in Black Anodize:

thats photoshopped?wow, looking good!
MY EDC: JETBEAM M1X - it replaced 8 other lights.
+1 - kick butt PS job!
BTW, i'll take mine with whatever electronics you decide on, i know crap about bins, leds, soldering circuit bords, its best someone else do it for me...![]()

Drawings are at the shop and production should be completed in about four weeks time.![]()
When do you think you will have a pricing schedule for the light and the options you mentioned earlier?![]()
Thanks.
Looks great in EN. Juggernaut is my name for this light!![]()
