I bought mine at a gun show but I have seen it in the local mom-pop sporting goods store.

Not certain about the big box stores.

If you have a military surplus store anywhere convenient they usually carry milspec cord. I've also seen prepackaged bundles of similar style cord (usually less filler strands, different feel to the outer cord, and probably lower strength) at sporting goods stores in the camping area. I think Walmart had some of the similar style cord in their camping section.

I found some really cool beads in a girly cheap jewellery shop. Nice thing is they are available in all sorts of designs and letters of the alphabet.

First "large" turks head. How do you stop the cord twisting while tightening the knots?



MRV with wriststrap. The lanyard hole on the MRV is tiny, so I added a cobrastitch band around the light first to hitch into. Tied the sliding Turks head in leather cord, its only shiny on one side, took some care to keep it facing up!

Here is what I am thinking guys. How about a lanyard very similiar to the one in the post above by Stormdrane. Maybe a split ring for flashlight attachment, wrist opening, small decorative area between... Here is what I want

Is there any way to make the decrative part conceal a CR123 battery? Maybe the cord could be wrapped around a small container, or simply be wrapped around a battery? This could then be spread apart, swap out the good battery with a used one, and put the old one back in the storage area. Again, the "storage area" could simply be cord wrapped in such a way that it wouldn't fall out. That way your extra batter would be stored right on your lanyard. What do you guys think?

A very nice chap on another forum asked me to make a neck lanyard and matching knife lanyard.
The neck lanyard has adjustable length via the two slidding knotts.


That little project got me thinking, and I make some neck lanyards for work badges.

I was getting bored with the std cobra paracord bracelet.
So I tried a bracelet I read about on Stormdranes blog and made one for myself. I really like this style, I'm going to make some more....

Opps, double post, first one ever!

Cheers Stormdrane, I'm wearing it everyday, feels great and gets a lot of looks.

My wife came home the other week and asked me to make a keyring for her friend. The spec was that it should be a monkeys fist and float with a key on it! Oh, and be a girl colour.

Next my wife comes up with the ping pong balls and away we go. After some testing we found that one key was OK and two keys was possible but the whole lot sunk with the extra mass.

Now it needs to dry before we pass it on to her friend.

I'm guessing cork would float better, so I might try and find some for the next time.
Any other ideas would be welcome?

I've tried the ping pong balls before, & ended up using them as Christmas tree ornaments.

I've found bottle corks at the local True Value hardware store, and a Turk's Head knot goes well over those. You might also try tying over one of those floating key fobs, found in the boating/fishing section at wallyworld.

I made a paracord pouch for my River Rock 3AA LED lantern and it also works as a can koozie. A 2 foot piece of paracord used for the cinch section with cord lock, and I didn't measure the cord, so I'd have to guess something like 30 to 40 feet of paracord used for the single strand for the cow hitching, and finished the bottom with half hitching. The hitching allows some stretch/elongation of the pouch to fit both the lantern and a soda/beer can.
