How to attach lense

I found out that I can use the lenses that I ordered and can use them without the lens holder. But the problem that I am having now is.

Making sure the lens is centered and how to attach it to the star the LED is mounted on.

I was thinking clear silicon RTV to handle any heat. Will this work?

I got the lenses from LED supply and they are for a luxeon.

there shouldn't be any heat on your LED just the heatsink below it.

dont use super glue...that stuff i'll mess up your lens and LED dome.

i find that silicone or something like it will work.

I got some silicone adhesive so that should work.

So do I just center the LED by eye?

I also noticed with the luxeon lense holder that there is probably a 2mm gap between the lense and the LED. But since I am not using the holder is it ok to put the lense right on the slug of the LED, or should I use something to create that gap?
