so do the two buttons work independently of each other? Are they meant to go on the ends of the handlebars?

They are meant to be buttons in the speedometer - you are simply cutting the cable and soldering wire from one of the buttons in i.e. bFlex button holes. You can use two if you need / like so.

Zyro are the UK distributers for cateye in the uk and they have them listed on their website as £14.99 / €22.50

£15 wouldn't be the end of the world tbh but knowing I'm paying twice as much than anywhere else really hurts :-(

Not the case for everything, but this is a good example of where the UK distributor rips us off by adding a huge mark up. I'll be buying some from Europe at that price (will be cheaper even including shipping).
