Mag/cree optics question

I'm currently building a Maglite C mod outfitted with 3 Cree Q5 LED.
I've already glued the LED's to the heatsink thinking I'd use the Cree optics sold on the LED Supply website. I've found however that the optics are very wide and needed to be heavily modified to fit all 3. What I've found is that I ended up with something that looks a lot like the Fraen or Kathod triple optics.I don't know what kind of pattern it will throw, but don't want to waste more time modding the optics f there is something better suited.
Is there a smaller diameter optic that would fit an MR16 setup better?
I have ordered the Fraen triple optics from Cutter but am not sure if it will fit the LED pattern. They're all glued in a tight circle touching each other.
Can I unglue the LED's from the heat sink? It's glued on with the Arctic Alumina, I think it's pretty tough.
Thanks in advance.
I may have made a $60 mistake...

Hi Eric
You need a couple mm between the stars for the MR16 optic to fit.
Maybe you could use Cree single 20mm optics instead , to save taking the stars off again as they will fit OK.
There are lots of brand choices for them.

Cheers

Is it actually possible to get the emmiters off the heat sink if I needed to?
I'm so close to being done, it seems a shame to use a MR11 setup instead of an MR16.
I think the roomier design of the MR16 must give a better beam pattern.
