Stopped by a local battery specialty shop on the way back from a job fair this morning. Browsing around I saw some AA lithium 3.6V batts, so I asked the guy if they are actually rechargables labeled a primaries; he said they are not rechargable... Yet they were over $10 a piece!!

Does this sound wrong to anybody else? I thought 3.6V was a rechargable li-ion chemistry.

This gets asked regularly around here. Those are indeed 3.6v primaries, but their discharge rating is insignificant. They are useful for backup memories, watches, monitoring equipment and such things that never draw more than a few milliamps. They are entirely unsuitable for flashlights (with a few minor exceptions).

They are also very expensive, as you noticed.
