That is interesting. Was that done with a chemical etch? I have done something similar with an aluminum enclosure for a guitar effect.

I can't tell you how it was done. The maker, GanP, described it as follows:
The head and tail are TiN, from Don.
The color match is good enough for me, and as soon as I can get a GDuP in it, it'll be done.

Can a TiN finish be polished without removing the finish?
I'm already working on masking the etched brass segments, so I can shine up the raised ridges.

TiN, not Tin. Titanium Nitride. I took a little Brasso to a pair of TiN scissors, and it had little effect, good or bad.
