I got one of these Spyderco Mules [http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=283] last week.

I then tried to wrap it with paracord but, well, it turned out so bad I couldn't even take a picture!

So I decided to put my own scales on it

I think it turned out better than the paracord!

Keep working your way up the sandpaper, you can get those edges a lot nicer if you give it some time.

Did you use pins or corbys to hold the handles? Looks too small to be corbys but you finished the ends pretty well regardless.

Those are solid brass pins...

I've been using my bench sander and those round sanding drums... both with 150 grit.

I haven't seen any finer grits for either of them, at least at the local hardware store.

Given how much time it too to do this with power tools, I don't think I want to do much by hand!

But I think I'm going to do some more, just to see what can be done.

Haha, yea, you start respecting knife makers a lot more when you attempt this type of thing.

I think it looks great though. My mule has a paracord wrap. ;)
