Hey Guys,

Ok, I've decided on the 14500 for my Nitecore.
One quick question. I see that the AW 14500's
have no battery tab, both sides are flat.

Is this going to be ok in the Nitecore or do I need
some type of spacer?

Thanks! :twothumbs

Ray,

I just recently received my NDI and have been using an Energizer Rechargeable 2500 mAH battery since last Friday - with consistent use it has been running strong. Great output and so far great runtime using that battery if you wanted another option. I ordered some AW 14500 and should receive them in a couple days. AFAIK I have not heard of anyone needing to use any spacers of any kind when using the 14500 with the NDI - I'm sure actual users will chime in soon. Enjoy the NDI its my new EDC :D

I just received 2 protected 750mAh AW 14500's from Lighthound last week. They are the button top.

I just received a AW 14500 from the Fenix Store and one from Lighthound. The one from Lighthound had no tab and would not work in my NDI. The one from the Fenix store and two Ultrafires I bought from BatteryJunction had the tabs and worked fine. No spacers needed.

The one with no tab would probably work with a spacer but I would not recommend it. I have heard of spacers shifting and shorting out against the Aluminum. Also the one with no tab was no shorter than the one with a tab so by adding a spacer it would be very very tight in the battery tube.

I just received an order from Lighthound which included two AW 14500 - Both were button top and work very well in the NCDI with no issues. Comparing the output between a freshly charged Energizer Rechargable 2500 mAH and a freshly charged 14500 there is a slightly higher output with the 14500. I have not been able to test run time yet - but someone has chimed in on another thread the the 14500 should have better run time.

Cheers for you getting a NCDI - Enjoy your new light! :twothumbs
