As much as I would like to have seen this project in produciton, I think Lumencraft has made it pretty clear from the lack up updates/upkeep on this thread that the project is dead in the water.
Too bad! I would have loved (and been willing to pay for) a V3.
"Wherever you go . . . there you are."
It's the Polaris that seems to have never made it past the drawing stage.
I just today found this thread.
1) this is likely why there was little interest in the Polaris - too hard to find niche stuff in out of the way forums and the now far too numerous sub forums.
2) I would have placed money down for a Polaris V1 at the quoted price. The twist for brightness combined with a momentary witch is probably the best UI anywhere and I really would like to try it. Love the renderings.
This concept and light deserved far more than to be hidden away from general view. I mean come on... the last post in this entire subforum was 2.5 MONTHS ago!
Well, I'd been waiting for this one myself however I'm not holding my breath anymore...
Hi guys... well Polaris... don't think we'll build that one the way it is here.. but we've had some ideas that pickup on the transparency thing... but in a different form... then again as a manufacturer you need to kind of stay true to your brand.. the same way all porsches look like porsches, rolexes look like rolexes, we kind of have the gatlight type look. Now there's still a lot of room for us to explore without getting boring I think and still be able to integrate concepts like these here...
Give us another month or two and we might start revealing some 3d renderings - the way we've done things in the past.. see how they are being received... then take it from there...
We have a few pretty revolutionary ideas... just need to check out how feasible those are.. after all after the 80 parts GatLight we don't wanna suddenly start building 5 part cylinder lights... ;-)
How about a gatlight that fits a 18650, I would be 1st in line.
You mean the GatLight V1 & V2 SS 168S in stainless, I would like to see the GatLight Titanium (V4) with a 18650 with the lastest upgrades. I have a V2 SS 168s
Hmm... an 18650 V4 model.. that would require longer carbon fiber pieces and bars. Wouldn't bee too hard to do... if we do another round of GatLights... which is unlikely... we might run a few extra longer parts for the carbon fiber and the tubes.
We have a few ideas.. but first need to do some housekeeping (accounting, paperwork, etc.)... then plan the next few things. So regarding GatLights.. we don't have that many left in stock... but if you want an 80 parts flashlight (40 of'em metal)... that's probably the only light there ever was.. and will be... to get that...
hopefully one day I can send you a paypal payment for the polaris
I am willing to send a part payment if others can do the same just to get it started, lets get a numbers list started
I'm 110% behind that one!
Steve, if you read just the posts on this page, you will have your answer. Also, the original poster hasn't logged on here in almost a year and a half, so don't hold your breath.
I think the biggest problem with the design would be heat dissipation. All the glass up front wouldn't do anything for that... I bet someone could engineer this light with heatpipes running down the length of the frame of the window that would transport the heat to the ti/al body....
V2 in wood or v3 ice!
