Just some pictures, i think these answer most possible questions. Weight was no arguement, the light has to be solid as a brick for heavy wood rampage.

The Microfire itself was completely left untouched, it can be rebuild to original state within 2 minutes.

I use a lipoly battery pack with 11,1 V and 10 Ah capacity in the saddle bag, which results in about 200 minutes possible use time.
The green led in the plug turns from green to yellow at 50% capacity and from yellow to red at under 10% capacity.
I integrated a small electronic board against deep discharge in the battery as well.

Some pics at the beginning:

A solid mount is necessary!

Some beamshots (F4, 2 sec, ISO 200), the tree on the right is 18 meters away, the tree with the reflecting sign ist about 55 meters away.

I'm very happy with it, its very solid and takes even higher jumps without trouble. That is very important for me since i want to use it on my freeride bike as well.

For uphill touring and for illuminating the first 5-10 meters in front of me, I use two Fenix L2D Q5 but these are not really necessary when running the Microfire. :candle:

That's cheating! You used a CNC mill! (I'm kidding, you lucky dog)

Very nice work. Did you anodize the bracket yourself or have it done?

Well, i made the adapter with the switch with my own lathe, but for the bracket i used the cnc machine at my university, that made it a lot easier.

I anodized it at the campus as well, that kept my house clean!

Vertical Mills...thats cheap! [j/k lol:crackup:]
I'll probably never get to that level of bike lights, I am interested, however [a little off topic, discussion by PM preferred] the assembly of the "helmet mount"

Hi again! Sorry for the waiting and many thanks for the compliments! :thanks:

Well, the switch is a waterproof model from Shin Chin Industrial. You can get it in various colors, my local dealer here in Vienna/Austria had this switch in stock.

The connector is a is a waterproof industrial sensor connector with screw locking and self assembled cable. I used the M12-E-Series from Hirschmann, you can get straight and angled versions.

On the pictures you can see the ELWIKA 4012 PG9 and the appropriate socket. I got all this from my local dealer.

WOW, that is a great looking mod! Beautiful! :twothumbs I like your choice of switches and connectors - very sleek and functional.

What's the weight of the unit? Is it too heavy for a helmet mount?

WOW!!! This is got to be the best bike light I have ever seen!

The best part is you can still convert it to regular flashlight after you park your bike.
