Assisted openers failing

Hello all.

I used to be quite keen on assisted openers (autos are illegal for civilians here) until I had two of them fail on me. The first was a Kershaw Blur. It still locked, so it basically stayed a real loose manual folder. The second was a Gerber Fast Draw. That failure was worse. No injuries, thankfully, but the blade now just swings free, locking about 1/4th of the time. It makes me think twice about using my Gerber Fast Draw Mini.

Just thought I'd let you all know.

Go to kershaw's website, warrenty section, they'll send you a new torsion bar free of charge. The spring does have a life limit and will break eventually. I'm not familiar with gerber's model, but I heard their lifetime warrenty is great.

Yeah, the torsion bar is easy to replace, you take the handle scales off and you will see what it is...pops in and out, easy to put a new one in...
