From your post it appears that you really want a Q5 equipped torch. Crenshaw's suggestion on the TK-10 is a good one as Fenix makes a very affordable & durable light.

Maybe you could tell us what the primary duty of this light would be and how you are going to carry it.

I have a T1 that puts out a lot of light but it's my dedicated house/yard light because it's too large for my EDC needs.

The Surefire L1 or defender fit the criteria and fall in your price range ( from opticsHQ). And before anyone objects, Surefires reliability matches,if not dusts all those named....reliability being among the top of "tactical" qualifications IIRC.

What the OP should really specify is what he wants out of his 'tactical' (or tacticool) light - the only real connection I see within the lights is that they have 'tactical' in the title.

We have a price limit, now tell us what you want to do with it.

the tactical lights seem to be high lumen/solid build quality.....i will be using this light for general outdoor use....dog walking, seeing corners of the yard at night.....camping/ etc...the "tactical lights" listed were some of the more popular lights on this forum.....for under $100 with the highest lum.....just wanted personal opinions of these lights and which ones you guys prefer....

general outdoor use, the Tk10 is great, and affordable...and very wide spill beam , much much more then the L1, which IMO, is more useful.

Depends on what you want it for... EDC?

I bought this Novatac Tactical from this dealer off Amazon... great price @ $110...honest and fast shipping.

You can sign up (and be instantly approved) for an Amazon credit card at a crappy rate of 14.99% APR and get $30 off...then pay the bill all at once and cancel the card. Worked for me

For what you want to do I'd go for the TK10 and pick up some AW R123's and a charger for guilt free lumens.

That's pretty sweet. I'm planning on getting the PEU stainless bezel. All you need to get is a 17670 battery tube from lighthound and you're all set.

Bear in mind that none of these flashlights can be upgraded, they are not modular. You should choose something than can use standard lamp assemblies like the popular P60 platform. In your price range, anything from the Wolf-Eyes 6V series will serve you better, not only they can use any incandescent lamp assembly compatible with the P60 or any LED drop-in in the same format, but they can also use 18650 Li-Ion batteries for extra capacity and higher currents than standard disposable cells. Not to mention all the cost-savings...

At this price you get the so called entry level tactical lights but nonethless there are great choices, however may i ask what kind of duties will the light given?

If you make a living kicking down doors and blinding dangerous criminals every night i shall say that you should get the best you can afford, I have some really coo suggestionsl.

Tk10 however i will not qualify this light as the ultimate tactical because it does not have strobe however, It is very nice since is one of the rare lights that comes with forward clicky from Fenix. I will advise against using the clip because it will prevent you from a quick draw, however it is PROVEN to stop a 9mm round at point blank range UBBER TACTICAL you will not have the need for a body armor you will be lighter have more mobility, just place a Tk10 over your vital organs you will run faster be more efficient and the plus side of always having a light under reach. A great choice if strobe is not important to you.

Dereelight DBS is very tactical IMO as you can change the POWER pills or Light Engines and you can tailor to each mission 's need such as single level for situations of high stress as 1 easy access mode is a must, you may use the pill with 3 different levels if you want to use it in a covert mission it will give you a low low, a retina burning high and even a strobe to disable your oponents and may also serve as a signal for the extraction helicopter. The only drawback is that the Glow in the Dark tailcap may give away your position in the dark, An easy solution is to spray paint it camouflage to blend in with the rest of the gear.

If you want AA factor and still having being tactical your best bet is the Nitecore Defender Infinity, sometimes is hard to get CR123 when you are shipped abroad specially when is a secret mission, they even come with a lanyard made with tactical paracord carrying extra paracord is always necessary for emergency situations, how cool is that even the name is tactical can't beat that. I mean really cool so cool that the light is capable of emitting a bliding beam with a single AA with the plus of having strobe, have different modes even infinite brightness, and a clicky so easy to activate that will not be a problem even with the thickest gloves. It does give you the tough warning of "warning strong light" however these were limited edition and may be harder to find since the newly revised version the warning was omitted to make the light more market friendly to the rest of the mortals or general public since the warning may be too sensitive for some people. THIS IS THE ULTIMATE TACTICAL LIGHT in my humble opinion.

I do have some other lights, however to me these are the most tacticool lights that fits your given budget. If in doubt as all flashaholic buy all, if you don't like any of them you can sell them at the BST because there is a great market for tactical lights from the 2nd world.

Greenstuffs, believe it or not some people here actually use these lights for tactical purposes. If you don't want a tactical light mate then don't buy one. There are plenty of other options around. Not all of us work behind a desk so don't rubbish the equipment people in different jobs need. This is your second post having a go at Chinese lights, grow up mate.

I guess my LEO friends are 'old school'. They simply want a strong and well-made light with decent throw and some fill. Peering down hallways, in & behind dumpsters, along a fence line is their 'tactical' use. The SF 6P was fine - the 6P LED is better - much better, cell-life wise. I'd include the 6P LED ($85) in your consideration. No frills - one power (Well, until the cells drop below regulation...) - strobe-effect by how fast your thumb can work the intermittent button. Very well made - and will take a myriad of drop-ins - including the ~200 Lumen SF P61L when it becomes available. Made in the USA, too.

I think there is a little bit more to a tactical light than using it for 'peering down hallways and behind dumpsters'. I agree this accounts for a lot of the use, but there are often situations that require more tactical movement and use of the flashlight. This is unlikely, but tell that to Detective James Walker who was the last officer in the US to be shot this year...If your flashlight does not need to be tactical then neither does your firearm.

so why won't a 100 dollar Surefire E1L Outdoorsmando the job? or an L1 Cree? Even the E1b is pretty close to 100 dollars.

May I respectfully ask what is your day or night job? or what kind of task do you use your light for?

    Edit:
I'm not rubishing the equipment that people use for their work i truly respect the people who uses the lights for the rightful purpose, I was just trying to make a point that anyone can use the hype of marketing to promote their lights and create a misconception of the tactical products in general. I apologize for the confusion that may caused.

G2 or 6P with a Malkoff M60 dropin. With the G2 you'll come in at about 95 bucks. With the 6P a little more. You cannot beat the combination of throw and spill from the Malkoffs. Great room brightening spill with a blinding hotspot. If your life depends on it this is the choice. Ever since I got mine all my guys want them. Only downside is you gotta sit by the computer on Monday's to get one.

OP: I will suggest any light that has the Malkoff M60. Once you try it you will know its tactical. And I have to agree with Outdoor fanatic. You might want to get something upgradeable and interchangeable.

I agree. I waited for Malkoff M60 and M60L for about a month. They're awesome dropins for my SF 6P. The M60 is blindingly bright, the M60L has longer runtime.

Gene Malkoff sends out emails on Monday letting you know what's in stock... but since he's a one man team, he would ocassionally take days off, spend more time on Mag dropins instead, or they're sold out.

I like my P3D alot, but the reverse clicky takes the true tactical nature out of it. For day to day lighting chores, it is the bee's knees.

A SureFire G2 with a drop in from Lighthound is my tactical light and carried daily for that reason.

So far it has. I don't believe in running it constant until it melts. What does that prove? That is not how I use it. I have run it for a solid 5 minutes and it was fine. And that is more that this light will ever see at one time. But I am not LEO. If I were, I'd carry my 9P with the drop in.

    PM on the clip.

Sorry for the offtopic, but are any cheap led drop-in compatible with WE?
I bought this week a drop-in for my sniper and I found that is to big (around 1 cm bigger than the LF or WE bulb). I'm a little sad because I thought WE where more upgradeable.
    Thanks
