Actually looks like it is just a custom lens... They are going to make them to distribute light in a rectangle to illuminate a piece of paper with a desk lamp. Sounds pretty weak honestly. (non news)

I'd have to say one thing from just reading the first few lines: " A one-watt LED delivers roughly the same optical output as a hundred-watt light bulb." They don't know what they are talking about. The whole article (I just skimmed it) seems a bit behind the curve. Focusing the power of an LED is nothing new to flashaholics - see the Aspheric lenses some have used.

100W light bulb?

That's 1330 lumens.

Sell a 1W LED that pumps that out, and I promise you, I'll buy one.
