Like many of my mini-reviews, these pictures are long overdue, but life outside of knife collecting has been unusually busy for me the past couple of months, so I'm hoping late is better than never.

This beauty is Peter Carey's Nitro flipper, featuring a 3 7/8" handrubbed CPM 154 swedged recurve blade, Ti bolsters, and some nice stag handle scales. Pete is one of the true rising stars among custom folder makers, and for good reason. He makes a great looking knife with flawless fit and finish and amazing build quality.

Pete put some really nice touches on this piece to enhance its presentation. Most notable is the engraving in the Ti bolsters to continue the pattern of the stag in the handle scales, something Pete did after obtaining the blessing of Charles Marlowe, who performed a similar engraving over a year ago. Another welcome addition is the oversized pivot heads, which measure nearly 7/32" across.

Although flippers are relatively new to Pete, he clearly knows what he is doing when he builds them. The flip action on this Nitro is fast and smooth, and the knife can be easily flipped open with no wrist action whatsoever, no matter its orientation, as the video here shows. The lock up on the knife is rock solid, and the blade centering is near perfect.

Special thanks to Pete for making this amazing piece for me, and to Charles for giving his blessing to Pete regarding the stag carved bolster idea. This maker is definitely one to keep an eye on!

That's a really nice looking knife. How big is it compared to a Small Seb(if you happen to have one)?
