Just curious if anyone has experience unpotting potted bulbs? I have read that soaking them in methylene chloride can do the trick. Is it fine just to use paint thinner/remover, or do I need to purchase pure dichloromethane? Anything else work? Thanks.

leukos,

GOD NO! Don't do that! They are potted in ceramic adhesive/potting compound which is impervious to most solvents.

Just drill a few small holes in strategic places in the potting and then gently attack it with a pick and it will just crumble apart with no problems.
