I'm an A2 convert !
He's still turning out the masterpieces! I just got what may become the most useful light he's built for me so far.
The "Heat Miser" X692.4! A new generation KL3-HA head, gutted and then refilled with a custom heatsink, and a custom Tellurium Copper 'donut' surrounding the cut-down McR27L reflector, which contains a Cree MC-E (K-WF wired 2S/2P).
It's running Acorn 1.3 'Bailey' Firmware, driven as follows:
High..1.5A for 692 lumens!
Med..500mA
Low..150mA
UL..10mA
Then, of course, there's Miser Mode for much much longer runtimes.
The head is currently running on 2x17500 Li-Ions, in a C3 host, but I haven't decided on it's final mount yet.
The beam from this combination is remarkable! The 3 lower levels are extremely useful for a variety of needs, but when you switch her to high, the world lights up! It's got a HUGE coverage, with a far-reaching hotspot, surrounded by intense side spill.
Great job, Milkster!![]()
That is beautiful donn! Well done Scott.
Hi Donn,
How's the head weight on this beauty? I have a couple of nicely heatsinked multi-emitter lights from Scott and at least one of them weighs.....alot.
With all that copper I was just wondering if it's a heavy guy...
Thanks,
Gary
The stock 2ndGen KL3 weighs 66 grams. The "Heat Miser" KL3 weighs 106 grams, 60.6% more.
I weigh 102,058 grams. A lot more!![]()
Very pretty. You should have named it the real "Copper Top."

I don't pick the names, Milky does.
There have been customers in the past with strong naming preferences, who have dictated the names of their lights. That said, Donn gave me no specific guideline so I tried to offer a name that would be fun and at least a little descriptive of some aspect of the light's performance. I figured copper has tremendous heatsinking properties, so in a sense it is a kind of natural "heat miser." Also, it was Christmas television special season, and one of our classic American icons for the season is the infamous "Heat Miser"...
...so figured Donn would (hopefully) like the name! I even stuck a little color laser printed calling card in the packaging.![]()
ROFL!
The little printout went right over my head. I though one of the little Milky Droplets stuck it in the package!

Milky your Pm inbox is full so ill ask here.
What is the most lumens you can put in to a new style L1? I like the throw of the L1 and the current low but want the absolut hightest high that is possible. Also a price idea.
Thanks

I know you're a busy man Scott, but I can't seem to reach you via email. I don't know if my mail client is putting your returned messages into the Junk Mail folder or something. Should I call you instead? I don't want to be a nuissance but I also would like to address something please.
Hello Scott!
Last year you build me an KL2 Head with 3*SSC P4 (X510 or so) with an M2C Adaptor an an 18500FM Body.
You called it the "Kompressor". Can you remember?
Could you build me such a light again?Or even with 3*Cree MC-E?
Please let me know. I would need this light the next weeks. i know you are very busy and dont really believe you could make it happen, but its just a try.
Kindest Regards
Toby

Hi Toby,a pleasure to hear from you! Of course I remember the Kompressor. Really liked that build, especially how small it turned out to be and the big, center-weighted field of view it produced in its beam pattern.
For those unfamiliar, here are some photos I had of Toby's light and its label...
I'll be in touch by email to let you know what I can do... in the big picture, yes, think I can help... have most of the parts on hand to do the job; we just need to finalize a couple choices and can take things from there. Will be in touch soon.
Great to hear from you again!![]()
Many thanks Scott!![]()

Hi Scott![]()
Scott, I just wanted to say that the Oilslick is just awesome! I love it.
The tint on the high CRI Seoul is just what I wanted. But now my Boxter isn't getting as much attention. I may need another emitter swap. I do worry about how much runtime will be lost since I'd like to keep my output levels the same. This might be one I should wait on till a more efficient high CRI Seoul comes out?
I'm thinking about it anyway...............
EVERY one of my lights need the warmer tints or they just sit!![]()

Hey Milky!for the tea samples! What kind is it?
Scott,
Normally you are quick to respond (2-3 days) but I have sent you two or three emails about my Tri-Rebel 813 lm M3 mod that you have had for months. I don't need the light, I need some kind of communication about the state of affairs. Is everything cool or are there problems with parts or.......
