We have the UK Q40 mini eLed scuba diving light.

There appears to be a "Plus" version,
but I can't figure out what it is, or how it is different ?
http://www.uwkinetics.com/product/4

What is the differences between the Q40 eLed and the Q40 Plus eLed ?
Since the "power" comes from the LED module,
which in our case is labelled # 14850 ?
Which module is in the Q40 eLed and the Q40 Plus eLed ?

Also, I've seen 2 different lumen ratings - 40 and 67 -
and 2 watt or 2.5 watt -
which again would relate to which version of the LED module

tnx for clarifying....

I think the Cree R2 drop in will work with the Q-40 LED. I ordered one and i'm gonna try it with 4AA and 2 or 4 14500
4x14500? Sounds like potentially a lot of heat for the Q40's polymer body, unless you're actually using it while diving.

The larger #'s are for the eLED.

The eLED is an upgraded version of the LED.

I will post pics and results when I get the parts in. DX takes forever!!

I have an original Q40 and P60 modules do NOT fit in it. They are too large in diameter and will not make contact.

What part did not fit?

I took some measurements and I will have to do some sanding. I believe just the head will need to be sanded down by about 1 mm.

We will see. If not oh well. :buddies:

Your answer is here:

UK introduces a substantially brighter verison of the Mini Q40 eLED® at DEMA 2005.

UK announced the release of its new Mini Q40 eLED® PLUS at the DEMA show in Las Vegas. It will replace the older Mini Q40 eLED®. The 4AA cell dive light incorporates the same basic circuitry and twin element projection optics system released earlier this year in the UK4AA Zoom eLED light. As an underwater light the Mini Q40 eLED® PLUS is optimized for a narrow penetrating beam and highest power relative to the UK4AA Zoom light. It is emits 2.5 times as many lumens and has a center beam brightness over 4.5 times brighter than the earlier model dive light. The increased brightness comes as a result of using the latest high efficiency white LED emitter and an increase in power. Burntime is decreased due to the greater power draw.

just checked out this mod with my q40 and left over R2 module from upgrading my sl4 with one. it does look very possible need to take 2.5mm of the diameter of the relector and bore out the torch body, removing the diameter reduction step inside ( this is the step that holds the neg strap on the bottom) to a depth allowing the pill to make contact with the batterys.

good luck

Thanks for checkin that out for me.

I really did not mean to hijack the thread.... but it has been dead for a few months.

I'll post pics when I have them. I aslo got the empty dropin module so I can build my own if I want.
