Hello fellow CPF members. I came across this driver on kaidomain for a ssc p7 emitter and was wondering if it would work? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I've seen a few reviews of it indicating that 3*NiMH cells or a single Li-Ion wouldn't be enough to drive a P7 to 2.8 amps. It says 6 volts max, so 2*Li-Ion is out. But even with 4*NiMH, it must get quite hot. It's a linear regulator. Any extra power has to be dissipated as heat.

This one from Kai is a switching regulator, so it should be much more efficient. I haven't actually seen anybody write a review of how it performs. Might be worth a look.
