Here you can see the joint where I solder the pieces together. It is VERY hard to get the amount of solder right to keep it from bleeding out too far.

Thanks Choppers. These are the pills for Karl's lights. As I mentioned before each one I build is slightly better than the last. I decided to start polishing them after I had already put the epoxy around the emitter on yours so when I tried to polish it it got some of the polish onto the epoxy. It is still pretty just not quite as perfect as the ones I took pictures of. Just letting you know.
As a note to everyone I have also just figured out a way to improve the surface quality of the lenses and will be implementing this from here on out. Don't take this to mean they were bad before. Quite the contrary. I'm just a perfectionist so if I can find a way to improve quality I will. Even if it is incremental.

Which one? I currently have five projects. The Black Tie(and a derivative) is one of those and will be a revolutionary EDC. That is all I will say about that. Then there is the one-off I made mention of in an update to the initial post of this thread. One of my projects is so ambitious it will probably take another 1 1/2-2 years before it is ready. Then there is a major option addition to the DEFT line. All of this in no particular order.

I made a note of that. One thing though I don't have you down for the diffused lens which is necessary for the MC-E because the separate dies throw a nasty beam without it.

I hear ya...I was thinking about that the other day wondering if you have any help at all...I guess I got my answer....even one extra person I am sure would help you out a lot......maybe as time goes on you will be able to bring in some help...

The updates just never seem to end. This time I have bought several Pelican cases for any who want to protect their investment. These are incredibly tough cases. Here are a couple pictures.



The Raidfire is just to help you with the scale.


The price is $37 and comes setup for your DEFT. The only difference between what you see here and the ones to come would be switching the placement of the battery and lens spots. This will help protect your light and allow you to carry extra batteries and the optional diffuser lens. Definitely worth it in my opinion!
