Hello Sandwich Shoppe.

I'm looking for a Converter to drive a single SSC P4 emitter.

I want somewhere 1.2 to 1.3 amps. Also I need the driver to support at least 9volts. Looks like SOB may fit the bill.

I used the current sense resistor calculator and came up with:

Computed a two resistors solution:
r1=, r2=0.04 which equals 1.25
that is 4% off the desired 1.3 Amps.

However, it doesn't look like .04 is in the drop down.

What can I do to get near 1.2 amps?

Thanks

Remember that the P4 has a maximum current rating of 1A. With that said, I have run a P4 at 1.2A for extended periods. But it was extremely well heatsinked, and never got warm. Keep your thermal adhesive thin.

For your resistor problem, you can always use two .2 Ohm resistors in series to get your desired result.

Thanks a lot for your response.

I plan on upgrading the stock converter board for a 4th generation KL1. Do you think its safe to drive a P4 at 1.2amp? I plan on using it for extended periods of time as well. 30mins or more at a time.

Also as a side note, you have a Sapphire Crystal Lens with AR Coating 22.5mm x 1mm.

Would this be a direct replacement for the "domed" lens of the KL1... I've replaced the optics with one of your McR-20 Seoul reflectors.

Thanks again
