●=●=● PVD Coated Killer AAA Titanium Lights For Sale ●=●=●

The Killer AAA Titanium Keychain Light is now available in three PVD coatings.

Price for the PVD coated Killers is $130, which includes worldwide shipping, but no insurance.

AAAKillersSlant1_2000.jpg

From left to right:
1) ALTiN--Black/Purple. My wife likes this best.
2) Deep Gold, a TiN coating. Very nice, for a gold.
3) Hematite Black, also ALTiN, but with different processing. My favorite.
4) The normal bare Ti Killer, for comparison.

The Killer AAA Ti Keychain light:

  • Ideally suited for use with the Sanyo Ni-MH 1000maH AAA battery or the eneloop 800mAH AAA battery
  • Constant current driver delivers 40mA to the Nichia 5mm GS LED, bin W
  • Total length, not including split ring, of 2.48"
  • Diameter of .56"
  • Custom-made silicone gasket to prevent inadvertent battery movement when the light is off
  • Uses any AAA battery with a voltage range of 1.2V to 1.8V
  • Comes with an eneloop 800mAH rechargeable battery
  • O-ring sealed for waterproofness
To order:

  • Please send $130 payment via PayPal to: paycashpal (at) photonfanatic.com, for cash payment; or send to: fanatic (at) photonfanatic.com, for a credit card payment
  • Include your CPF name in the notes section
  • Indicate which color you want for your coating
Note: The bodies and drivers are in stock, but I am awaiting some Eneloop AAA batteries--they should be in the week of November 3-7. Any order will be shipped once the batteries arrive.

They look great!

What is the PVD coating? How does it compare to other types of coatings? More durable, harder etc

Thanks!

Is the Hematite TiCN ??

If not, is TiCN possible? How much would that cost?

The light gold is most likely ZrN -- Zirconium Nitride, pale gold, 2800 Vickers, but I'm double checking with the shop.

The deep gold is TiN -- Titanium Nitride, bright gold, 2500 Vickers.

The black/purple is AlTiN -- Aluminum Titanium Nitride, grey/black, 3600 Vickers.

The multi-color is undoubtedly a mixture, and proprietary, but certainly as durable as TiN.

The black coating, what I called Hematite Black, is unknown, but I have asked the shop to clarify what they used.

Judging by my attempts to polish them, I'd say that all of them are extremely durable. :D

I spoke with the shop today. The Black Hematitie is actually ALTiN, but with different processing parameters.

Yes, they can do TiCN, but the colors can vary from dark gray to purplish gray, or even to a copper appearance. Why did you want TiCN, and which color were you interested in? Got a pic to show what you like?

The multi-color coating is also ALTiN, but with oxygen introduced during the process.

The light gold was, indeed, ZrN coated as I had thought.

Fred,

TiCN is very hard and scratch resistant. I have several seiko watches that are partially or totally TiCN coated. I really like them.

Check these partially/totally TiCN watches:

http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=SPL008

4000 Vickers per middle of page:

As you can see, a charcoal color, slightly brown, often a polished or brushed (or both) surface finish, is what is used for jewelry.

I will gladly order one for you in the silver/charcoal color, no problem. I think the shop didn't push that coating because it is too similar to the color of bare Titanium--and I had asked for a variety of colors to provide a different look. I see your point about the Vickers, but I doubt that anyone will be unhappy with anything at 2500 Vickers and above--they are all extremely durable, really.

The decision was easier for the colour of Fenix E01:thinking: (I toke orange, blue and olive).
Back for the AAA killer I'll take a Hematite Black one.

It will be a lot more resistant to damage than an aluminum coated light would be, but, really, concrete can ruin just about anything if the light hits it at the wrong angle.

Re: ●=●=● PVD Coated Killer AAA Titanium Lights For Sale ●=●=●

Thanks, Roga.

I actually placed the order for some of the PVD coated Killers on the 20th of October, so they should be back by the end of October/early November. I ordered the Hematite Black, Black/purple ALTiN, and the deep Gold TiN coatings. I did those three coatings for both La Petite Killer and the Killer AAA light, also.

I will be mailing your anodized Killer on Monday, however. No sense in holding back on that.
