I just want to leave this (with some Translation) here: (some of the Pictures are from me because I have the same HID-Ballast)

From: http://diy-community.de/showthread.php?t=21709 (German forum for DIY-Projectors)

You need:
- AL HID-Ballast and Ignitor (They are build in BMW, Volkswagen and Audi-Cars)
- Soldering Iron
-Wire
-Variable Resistor 100kOhms
-Drill and Drillbit
- Electrical Tape

Maybe a DL50 HID-Burner beacause the 35W-Bulbs maybe won't last long and don't use the Chinese ones.

Pic one and two shows the Unit, in three, four and five it's opened.

You put the PCB out and find the marked Resistor on the other side and solder the wires to it.

Use some electrical Tape to protect it against a short circuit and drill a hole and feed the wires trough it.

Now it's completed.

He did some tests:

Normal Ballast (35W Philips Bulb): Input 74W, 1060 Lux bright.
Converted Ballast (35W Philips Bulb): Input 137W, 2260 Lux bright.

And for the ones without the Plug, here my Pinout ( You need red, green is unimportant)

"Brücke" means connect these two pins, "rot","schwarz" and "grün" are the red, black and green wires to the ignitor.

Note: I didn't convert my Ballast, so it's on your own risk.

Have fun :D!

Sincerly,

Wow, nice pics. I'm probably going to have to read through it all again to mentally place what's being done according to the pics but it seems simple enough to do.

Thanks
