SF Lamp assembly ID?

I was reorganizing my lamp/light engine tackle box, and found a small baggie containing these two lamps:



They look just like Surefire lamp assemblies, but have no engraving or stamped identifier on the collar, like my other ones.



They look like the rare photos of the N62 I found with Google, but is there a way to be sure? Here are some closer shots:




On a whim, I stuck one into a 3" SF turbohead running 3xA123 cells, at a hair over 10V, and got a brilliantly strong beam. I only ran it for a few seconds.

If they are N62, what is the recommended power for them?

I would have tried them first on two fresh CR123a's to see what the beam looked like. If it was pretty orange, I would have tried three.

I thought about that, but I compared the filaments to various other known lamps, and they're as beefy as some 12V lamps I have, so I figured I was safe starting with 10V.

Interesting. They look quite strong, with few coils of fairly thick filament, so I would guess they are low-voltage and high-current, rather than the other way round. Maybe a resistance reading would give you a comparison with other LAs.

It looks like 10X lamps in an MN base :shrug:

I have two very old Surefire lamps that have the same looking springs.

how old is old?
the farthest I can date to is a M6 magnumlight and the MN20/21 springs are shiny

wow... two N62, I'm sure to identify that.

this bulb draws 3.7A, 7.65V, 3xA123s may blows it soon~

I tried to use 2x18650s to power it and safe, but 3.7A that is also heavy for li-ion(trad. type)

anyway, it is rare and powerful bulb for 12ZM/PM/Z.

I'm guessing how 2xIMRs to power it is.

I just picked up a 3rd copy of this lamp (along with a lovely 12Z with a 3" turbo head). The previous owner confirms it's an N62.

A call to Surefire tells me it takes 12 volts and outputs 500 lumens.

Yes, donn_, they look exactly like my N62.
