Anyone tried doubler or improved night owl optics

Have a NOCX3 3.1x, they list a doubler lens for this unit and I wonder if its worth it. Im trying to improve this unit with larger dia optics or higher power IR source. Has
anyone had any luck helping gen one units like this? tucker@conninc.com

Works great up to about 100 feet or so. Its clear and sharp
the only problem is you have to take the batteries out or
they will run down, the led says it off but not really.
I think a hi power IR illuminator would help with longer range & a the NW doubler would give 6x.

PS: The first NV I had was a new russian army binoculars set
It was pure junk even thou it was built like a tank.

kg4ote .... Is the NCOX3 worth thr money in Your opinion? The reason I ask is that I am contemplating buying the NCOX5 at Wal-Mart, but really have not seen a lot of review's. So will I get the Night Owl or another brand?...Thank's

Seems to be a good unit & works well, Ive seem alot worse
gen 1 units out there. I would buy one again unless I was going to spend three times as much for gen 2.
