Does anyone have any idea at all if NiteCore will release a PD-switched light similar to the D10 that takes a single 18650? That would be extremely mega superb! R2 with a bit more throw would be nice. :naughty::cool::naughty:

Hey, I wanted to start that thread ;)

Yes, an EX18650 would be great. Maybe you could even reuse the EX10 head.

Could anybody with an EX10 test if a 18650 or 17670 fits? (not length, just width ;))

I would definitely. same setup as the EX10 but longer to accomodate 18650. R2 led would be ok but I am thinking bigger and better. How about squeezing a P7 or MCE led in there? Now that would be awesome!!!! though heat dissipation might be an issue:devil:

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the thread title. A variable output flood would be awesome.

Thanks, guys! I didn't notice that pre-existing thread.

I was vascillating between an R2 and an MC-E myself. Maybe an option?

+1 on the third memorizable setting. This would fix the latency involved in getting to a middle brightness setting. :naughty:

I really like the very low low of the D10. Apparently this feature entails an efficiency hit though. Is there any way around that without including a second driver for the low currents? Maybe it wouldn't be a problem with an 18650-based light, but I find I'm replacing my AA Eneloops in D10 excessively often. I use the light A LOT-

I think of its switch as providing "Guilt-Free button clicks"!!!!!~! Aside from the occasional lubing (which I have yet to need to do on my 8 mo old D10!) the switch apparently never wears out for all practical purposes. In contrast, I went through like two Fenix switches in the same amount of time before I got the D10. That is an annoying complication indeed.

Cheers. :)

AW RCR123 is 750mAh
AW 1760 is 1600mAh.
So, over double the runtime. 'over' because of that extra 100mAh, and maybe more important, because the discharge rate goes down from 1C to about 0.5C

Could it be over 3 hours on max setting?
