    Arrow 4-1/2" C-Flex Flame Thrower!!!

I don't want to give away too much information about this prototype project I have been working on. I have been wanting to build a head like this for a while just never had the chance to get one finished. Well, I have finally finished a prototype that fits onto the C-Flex battery tubes. My prototype is direct drive (my preference), but they can be made with a 5 mode converter also. Hi-Med-Low-Strobe-SOS. I know people don't really care much for the strobe or SOS but that is how it was programmed. If I could get one programmed that is just three modes I will. Since this is in a prototype stage I might have a ilttle time to do that.

    Some specs:

    length - 4-1/2" long
Tube Dia - 1-1/4 dia with slightly raised Knurling
Head Dia - 1.990 dia with thin crenulated bezel.

Module is screwed into the head from the front (lens side)
    Produces a min of 600 lumens on a single Li-ion C-size battery
Creates plenty of flood with a nice tight hot spot beam (20mm reflector')
Much tighter hot spot than a P7 or MC-E with a 27mm Reflector
Since it throws farther is seems much brighter than a P7 or MC-E (actual output has not been tested, just visual)

These will probably be Hard Anodized Black or EN Plated. Still undecided.

I will attach some pictures for you guys later today when I get home. I will also include some Beam Shots showing the Difference comparted to an MC-E & P7.

Hope there is enough interest in this to do a small run of these lights. Compared to the lights I have here this thing is amazing.

    Pictures coming soon!

    No pics for me too.

I'm interested in heads for my C-flex bodies. I don't know if I'll need another body for the fact that I own about 5 or 6 bare aluminum units. A complete anodized package might work for me though.

Did you mention the reflector that you're using in the proto head?

    Could this be a tri-cree XR-E using McR20 reflectors?

This is not too bad of an Idea. But I think it is even something better. I might reveal the front view tomorrow. But as you know it uses only a 20mm reflector.

I was going to guess one of the 1000lm Ostars, but that hot spot looks too well defined, and running that well off a single Li-ion (even a "C") would require an interesting driver. Maybe a Tri-FluPIC and a tri-Rebel Endor Star?

The 27mm head looks great on the C-Flex body!

If it uses only one 20mm reflector why are you then using a 2" head?
Tri-Flupic, one McR20 and two aspheric lenses then?

    What emitters are in it?
    Must be K2's?

I like the large headed one. Man that could be my first complete aluminum light. Are you going to build them complete like that and if so do you have a price estimate?

I don't quite have the price yet but I did make about 25 heads. My favorite lights are bare aluminum since they are very easy to take care of and you don't worry as much if you drop it.

These use the new Luxeon 220 Lumen K2's with TFFC. BIN UWOE. I have some extras emitters I am selling in the market place.. If you are interested in picking up some extra K2's you can pick them up HERE!

Chris, which reflector gives best focusing, McR20 or McR20J?
Just picked up some K2's in your sales thread but forgot to include my cpf handle.
How about posting a picture of the internals...

Yes, this is an interesting project. I am very interested in this. You could do a pre pay to help get this going?

    Hi Guys,

We're still working on this. I have a head built for a buyer now and can keep building them as ordered. The one built is driving the LEDs at about 1amp each as in the photos in this thread. I will build the next one using a modified Tri-FLuPIC to drive the LEDs up to perhaps 1.75amps per LED, and that's quite the output! The problem is it costs me about $60 more to build this way (and takes longer) and I have to pass that on. Using the 1amp board the bare tri K2 head runs $300.

litetube, I have an email into Chris to see if that MC-E proto head, or another one may be available. Thanks for your patience. I'll let you know.

But with that large head, couldn't you make it so that it could hold a single MC-E or P7 with a nice reflectored beam, would put out more 600 than lumens, would be easier and less expensive to build and so would cost less?

    Hi Gary,

Sorry for the delay posting, but I wanted to post the price on the MC-E head at the same time, but I still don't have that anwer.

Yes there are cost savings going with a single multi die (dice?) emitter. However you wouldn't get the same throw or quality of beam in a head the same size as you would with the three K2s. It takes a really large reflector to focus those large LEDs for throw. The K2 TFFCs can be driven so much harder you can achieve similar or greater output as well. Basically the MC-E and P7 would win on efficiency and cost in the same head, but would lose with the other factors IMO.

Sorry for the delay getting back to you on this. The C-Flex 27mm MC-E would run between $200 and $225 for a bare aluminum head, depending on what goes in it. The C-Flex body/tail would be extra.
