Hey guys my streamlight ultra stinger i believe 75,000 candle light power just broke. I think its the bulb but would like to invest in a new light. I am looking for something bright, rechargeable, not to heavy and have a little cool factor as well. Any ideas would be great.

People will probably recommend a wide variety of different lights, depending on their own preferences. The more you can be specific about your own requirements, the better.

Here are a few other threads on this topic which might be helpful:

Looking for a new duty (police) flashlight
Duty Lights
Recommendations for duty light
Choosing a Tactical Police Duty Light
Any other Duty lights out there besides the Ultrastinger
Suggestions for a duty light
Need help in a duty led light choice

... and there are many more which you would be able to find with the search function.

Great question, I have to avoid bringing up this topic when I see LEOs on the street!

Obviously you need a BRIGHT light to replace the Streamlight. PTS has what you seek.
Equally important is the proper use of a light when speaking to a motorist at night, showing where to sign tickets etc.
Here is where a 2-20 lumen low is important; check out RA/Novatac/Lumapower Incendio or the Connexion.
I do not own an OLIGHT but they seem more than adequate as well, opps...... forgot Surefire L1.

Ive bought a few different lights for RCMP members in this area. The two configurations that they seem to like most are Surefire 6P with clickie, Malkoff M60/M30, rechargeable Li-Ions, and Stallion leather 6P holster. Or, others prefer the Surefire E2DL with rechargeable Li-Ions and the 6P Stallion Leather holster (that actually holds the light in place because of the light's clip). Its a 50/50 tossup here between members. Some like the 6P/Malkoff for it's simpleness and incredible output, others prefer the E2DL because they can switch between low mode (for reading a drivers license and other documents) to high mode for extreme brightness and long range illumination. Both seem to work perfectly for the officers here... and the lifetime warranty doesnt hurt either :) Although most seem to be leaning towards the 6P setup as (for very little money later on) they can upgrade to a brighter drop-in or utilize different drop-ins for different purposes (M60 for general use, MC-E for home entry etc).

Good luck and good hunting...

Check out Jetbeam's Jet III Military with the optional strike bezel. Runs off 18650s or CR123s (think it accepts 3.6v/3.7v RCR123s too, someone correct me if i am wrong please)

It's got a more than ample 225 lumens max mode and the other mode is programmable to whatever light level you want using their IBS user interface.

Get that, a charger and some of AW's protected 18650 cells and you're all set, i'd recommend getting 3 cells (1 in the light and 2 spares) and this should last you long enough.

Since the crossposted thread was closed I'll move my reply here:

A full size LED tigerlight would impress your coworkers, just stand back when they start asking what the button on the tailcap does.

The incan would be nice too if you need a lot of throw and is already stronger then your Ultrastinger.

Both are rechargeable via cradle like the stinger.

c) Tactical strobe.
d) Easily carried.
e) Very efficient.
f) Adjustable second level for low low if desired.
g) Definitely has that "cool factor".

As others have stated a few AW protected RCR's and a Pila IBC charger and

The Pelican 7060 or 8060 could work too. The 7-60 is smaller then the 8060.

I'm guessing you'd prefer cradle charging?

Wait a minute, I just reread your post. You realize the bulb can be replaced, right? I think replacements are somewhere around $5.00. It's fine if you just want something new, but if it's just a burnt out incandescent bulb your flashlight is not broke.

I have a bunch of lights, probably way too many, but the one I find myself packing as my primary the most is either my Gladius or Typhoon (same light) Great size, wears nicely on the belt, very easy to change between modes with one hand, programmable low mode for cred checks or any other job where you don't want to totally screw up your night vision and interfaces well with a pistol. Mine have been durable and reliable despite being banged around quite a bit.

+1 on that. I was pulled over b/c my license-plate bulb was out. It was night time. Officer was VERY good at NOT shining the light in my face. I appreciated it and was very polite with her. She in turn issued no citation and only reminded me that my registration was a month or 2 out, which I was unaware of as well as my inspection sticker was still good and I usually get them at the same time.

I would recommend the E2DL. It is not rechargable, but it is durable as hell, has 2 levels, is VERY small/lightweight, has been proven to produce 200+ OTF lumens, and has a great warrenty to back it up.

What's wrong with you? The purpose of this forum is to aid in the drain wallets in an everlasting quest for cooler, brighter lights. :poke:
