Working on a RCA Stereo/CD/Cassette player for an elderly neighbor..

The transformer is not putting out on the secondary side.. Under the outer wrapping layer is a component with this lettering..

M30
TF 125 Degrees Celsius
12K

Is this some kind of thermal protection?
Can I bypass it safely?
Where can I get another transformer then?

Thanks!!

It is a thermal fuse and yes you can bypass it, but first check what caused the overheating ( most probable causes are a short in speaker terminals, blown power amplifier or messed up rectifier).

If you bypass the thermal fuse permanently, be sure to install some other form of protective device in the primary side, e.g., a fuse or circuit breaker.
