They are just flux bins of the Xlamp series of LEDs from Cree.

Presuming the same drive current, the P4 bin would be the dimmest, the Q3 bin would be in the middle, and the Q5 bin would be the brightest. There's also the Q2 and Q4 bin between the P4 and Q3, and between the Q3 and Q5.

Often you'll see people talking about the slightly lower bins like Q2 and Q3 because they are available in warmer color temperatures which are not commonly available in the current Q5/R2 bins.

Although a ton of DX lights use P bins, many of the decent quality brands use Q bins. Most are Q5, expect for warm tinted models, which usually use lower bins that are available in warmer tints (like Q3).

A 0220 K2 driven at 1.5 amps would be the brightest single die small LED at about 300 Lumens. The others can not handle that amount of current.

It may be brighter, but the OP was asking about CREE LEDs, not Luxeons.

supposedly an increase in efficiency is attained for every successive bin, with the lumen ratings at 350ma

so here we go with the race to getting the cutting edge technology
N2, N3, P4, Q2, Q3, Q4, Q5, R2....:ohgeez:

when in fact we have not moved one bit...we're still talking about CREE XR-Es here...Whether its a P4 or its a R2...its still an XR-E...

imho the "P4" means Seoul led here ...
... because it needs 1 sec for ppl with no knowledge at all, to learn that - when its is BINs that are meant - P4 is less bright than Q3 is less bright than Q5 is less bright than R2...

Then there is much more than the bin (that is stated with the lights specs).
The more rugged light from a respected maker with a P4 bin will give You more, than the immediately failing R2-bin Ebay offer

XR-E to P4 is a subjective matter.
I would take any XR-E Q bin over the most recent Seoul bin at any time
(not really helps You, or ?) ;)
