They seem to be 2 123a's in a plastic package. Is it possible to get 2 cr123a's out of them? I'm asking as they are really cheap in a local b&m store. Thanks in advance cpf.

I used to recover the individual 123A cells that are inside of the plastic 223A case, when the 223As were cheaper per cell than the 123As. But that was 15 years or more ago.

Carefully cut open the plastic case. You'll find two bare 123A cells electrically connected via some soft nickel straps. Work the straps back and forth to fatigue them free of their spot welds. Often, you can just pull them off the spot welds.

To use in a flashlight, it is probably a good idea to encase the bare cells in some sort of robust insulating layer like shrink tubing.
