Are the optics able to be changed by us, the users? Or is the one we order the one we are stuck with?
I like the spot and then medium frosted if I can interchange.
If interchangable, what is the cost of an additional optic?
    Thanks

The optics will be assembled with 3 drops of silicone glue on the legs.
this could be removed and replaced by you.
(Driver will be potted with a thermal silicone, Arctic Silver beneath leds, This will allow easier disassembly than an epoxy.)
    modify at your own risk

I do not have a quick change system set up yet.

You would need to see which one you like best and glue it in.
If you would like, I will sell you one with the optics loose.

I will supply extra optics for $8 each

    Beamshots added 8-18:

    Distance = 50 feet

    R2 triple @ 2.8A with:

    Narrow Clear<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>Narrow Frosted

    Medium Frosted<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>Malkoff M30

Yes, I will get them out ASAP. But Cutters parts take a while to get to my door.

Will this fit and work in an old aluminum Surefire P6? The 16850 does not fit in the light are there other options?

The "neck" for SF weaponlights has a different interior profile vs. SF Classic handheld tubes. That's why the solid body Malkoffs often need a fitting ring to make electrical ground contact. Can you verify that your heat sink shape works reliably with weaponlight tubes? Does the driver cavity have a little ledge or stop where the board can sit so that it doesn't get pushed in any farther under pressure from the battery stack?

    Thanks for the info man.

I will verify the fit when it is received.
If needed, I can have some customized to fit.

The driver does sit on a ledge, and it is fully potted.

I'm also interested in this idea.

Can you explain how the 3 modes work. Example. Tap once for low...tap again for medium, etc...

    Moddoo,

Unless I missed it I did not see a beam shot for the frosted narrow (10511). Also can you provide any pics of what the frosted lenses look like (either out of the light or in it). Thanks!

Yes, the drop in can fit it. I may need to make a custom diameter for it.
Either give me a good measurement, or send it to me for inspection.

Yes, it is a on/off type of mode change. It has memory of the last mode used.

I am sorry, I do not have a frosted narrow. I will order some tonight. They will not arrive for about 2 weeks though. I would guess the beam will be the same as the narrow 10507, but with a softer rounder shape.
    here you go
10507 narrow, 10508 frosted medium, 10509 frosted wide

You could make a 2-board parallel sandwich using a DX1885 3xAMC7135 board, for example. The trick is if the driver cavity of the heat sink is deep enough to fit a 2-board AMC sandwich and if the ledge/stop can be machined taller for the sandwich.

Another alternative, though expensive, is to use a 2-board GD1000 parallel boost-buck sandwich to give you a GD2000 (I'm assuming 1x18650 operation here). If you wanted more juice, you could use a 2xGD1500 sandwich. These boards are only 14mm in diameter so they will fit inside of the driver cavity. The trick again is if the driver cavity depth can accept the sandwich. Then you have to use some technique, such as filling the cavity with thermal epoxy to get the sandwich flush with the bottom face of the sink. Then solder on a conical spring. The end result probably would look somewhat like a Malkoff drop-in.

A third method is to disable the PWM controller on the supplied AMC7135-based driver board to get single mode operation.

Moddoo, how deep is the driver cavity? I assume that the ledge/stop is also set up for a single driver board PCB thickness, not a 2-board 17mm sandwich?

    Hey man,
I have TONS of room for drivers. I could fit a stack of 10 in there.

Anyway, I will consider you thoughts on drive current and regulation.
From what I have heard, the XP-E R2s typically have a nice low Vf.
I do not have the correct power supply to take accurate measurements. But I could find one.
They are really bright on a cr123 DD.

    I'll spend some time experimenting.

    on the single mode,
Yes, I could easily run 2 boards sandwiched.
    supply is a factor.

the cost of shoppe boards is pretty high.
I am more than happy to install them at the customers cost.

We have a few weeks until the solder hits the boards.
I am open to suggestions on this project.

    Moddoo,

Thanks for the pics. With the 10508 (medium) in place do you still need to have the flashlights glass lense replaced or does the 10508 serve as the new lens for the light. If I'm not making much sense...does my stock glass lense go on top of the 10508?

I have to tell you Moddoo those are great prices for an item of this quality-I'm guessing your not making any money off this rather providing a needed service(and an unique droppin')to your fellow CPF members.
My girlfriend said if I bought one more light she would leave me...........I'm sure gonna miss her.
