Thread: Milky Shotgun Sweeper!

    Default Milky Shotgun Sweeper!

Just got my Milky Shotgun Sweeper!
    CreeMCE-MWD Ledil-Boom-SS IR-Reflow UCL
    Direct Drive 650+ Lumens

I had Scott design me a light very similiar to the Room Sweeper, though this light would have to be able to take the abuse of repeated 12 gauge recoil as it will be mounted on a Mossberg 590A1 shotgun.

This is what Scott (Milky) made, and it's perfect, as usual.

Beam shots? You don't want beam shots, do you?

    Flashlight porn to come later.

The beem is a perfect flood.

OK. All coworkers are now blind or seeing spots. The beam profile on this light is similar to the Room Sweeper, however it is not quite as much flood, but let's not kid ourselves here, it is a flood beam. There is no hotspot in the beam, but it "appears" to be brighter than the Room Sweeper as... oh heck... here are some picture so you can see:

    Room Sweeper

    Shotgun Sweeper

    Room Sweeper

    Shotgun Sweeper

The closeups are at about a foot from the wall. The Shotgun Sweeper is a flood, without spill, if that makes sense. The Room Sweeper is a flood that has a hot spot with tons of spill.

Can't wait to mount it up on the A1 tonight as it will have a tape switch.

Here it mounted up and ready to "rock and roll".

This photo just gives me an uneasy feeling...

As soon as I get out in the desert, I'll get some live fire photos.

That's an interesting banner you have, it doesn't seem to be too popular with Homeland Security though.

Yes. I am a domestic terrorist... Not sure how that works being a peace officer and all.

It seems it's not hard to be considered a terrorist these days.

Hey Illum, the MCE Shotgun Sweeper is drawing about the same current as the P7 Room Sweeper, give or take a bit.

I spend far more time on firearms forums than I do here.

I've NEVER seen optics mounted on a Mossy.

Nice looking set-up, though; that light is really AMAZING.

Does not work good for skeet, however here's a 25 yard target with 9 pellet 00

And here is the other custom ammo I feed it:
.69 hard cast round ball at 1500fps. Will penetrate 1/4 inch steel.
These in the pic have been dug out of a burm.

Of course, the shotgun's name is "Mjollnir" which means "Crusher" and just happened to be the name of Thor's hammer

It's great how all you have to do is swap out the tailcap, and you get the best of both worlds.

That's a kick ass light! So far I've been using a regular ole 6PL, and it's been doing fine for me... though I'm not a cop!

Monocrom, perhaps Hogo could tell us more definitively, but for my part I believe it's an optical illusion based on the way the camera was angled to take the photo. It certainly wan't uneven when it left here, I know that! Also wasn't covered in dust as in Hogo's photo, but I attribute that to a dusty environment on his end or maybe already having seen some use in the field.

The reflector is a Ledil Boom Medium, which is hexagonal in shape on the outside and very slightly oval on the inner surface... that might have something to do with the photo as well. It's also worth mentioning that the way the reflector was designed there is a small amount of play even when seated on the emitter... it doesn't look like that's involved here, but I suppose the reflector could have shifted ever so slightly during shipping or field use.

Really think it's just the camera angle AND (if you look very closely) a reflection on the front surface at the right side of the reflector. Follow the outer rim of the reflector counterclockwise from the bottom point and you'll see what I mean.

See post #20, it beat yours by a few seconds... you're right, but the effect appears to be a combination of camera angle and room reflection. The reflector is pretty well centered in reality, maybe off by 1/4 millimeter at most, if at all.

You're right Scott. It does look like an optical illusion the closer I look at the pic. Didn't mean to imply your work was flawed somehow. (I'm still saving up for an E2E Room Sweeper of my own).

    Thanks for the clarification.

Optical illusion. Scott's work is top notch. I added the dust, dirt, powder residue, and sand. Wiped the blood splatter off though

I suppose a Milky Shotgun Sweeper with a natural red filter would not be quite as effective.

It's a polymer (read plastic) cheapo mount that clamps to the light and the magazine tube. Basically the same thing as the metal magazine tube to barrel clamps. Works great.

Shotgun Sweeper got to go through the paces tonight. As expected, it functioned flawlessly. Handled over 50 rounds of full-power 00 and slugs without a hitch.

Thought I would post some real life beam shots. First pic is the Roomsweeper, second is the Shotgun Sweeper. Target is 25 yards.

You can see by the shadow on the ground in the lower left corner how the beam is tighter than the Roomsweeper, however is still flood.

    Another incredible light by Scott!

Now those are some awesome realworld shots, can imagine the entire room lighting up if you had to clear it using this light, no more waving the light around lookin for the dark spots. amazing indeed

Nice shot of it being fired... Little bit of muzzle flash on it with those .69 balls.
